w/ diet, a dramatic drop in elevated liver enzymes
I don't know whether I can credit SAMe-425 alone for the improvement (I also began supplementing my dog's diet with dandelion smoothies and kefir, increased her dose of vitamin E and fish oil, and broke up her home-cooked diet to 5 small meals per day), but after 3 months of the combined regimen, my 8-year-old blue heeler's liver enzymes went from off-the-charts high to high normal. Now, 5 months later, the values are completely within normal - about a 300% drop from when she was first diagnosed with advanced hepatobiliary disease. Her doctor said that she'd never seen anything like this. Again, I made several dietary changes at the same time she started taking SAMe-425, so I can't say this medication alone is responsible for the dramatic improvement. Still, much credit has to be given to SAMe-425, since previously a healthy, organic, home-cooked diet had not offset her serious liver problems. I definitely recommend it.

Used for elevated liver labs

This plus diet modification has resulted in normalization of liver values. Of interesting note is our previous dog was on it too, vet advised, for cognitive changes associated with aging, that dog lived to 17 years old and it improved his mentation as manifested by not aimlessly wandering in house. -

What is the difference between the subject items? My vet had ordered the S-Adenosyl-100 and liver enzymes have gone down from 1200 to 900 but would the 425 accomplish more??

Donna, The appropriate dosing for S-Adenosyl is determined by your pet's weight. S-Adenosyl 100 is dosed as follows: Cats: 1 tablet daily Dogs under 20 pounds: 1 tablet daily Dogs 21 to 40 pounds: 2 tablets daily Dogs 41 to 60 pounds: 3 tablets daily Dogs over 60 pounds: 4 tablets daily The S-Adenosyl 425 is dosed as follows: Dogs 40 to 80 pounds: 1 tablet daily Dogs over 80 pounds: 2 tablets daily The number following the name indicates the strength of the supplement. Hi, Can Adenosyl 425mg come in another form or some Liver supplement just as effective come in another form . The issue I have is my Lab. dreads this open mouth insert horse pill everyday. Thanks for your response ahead of time. Mike?
