Proin
When your dog is incontinent it’s uncomfortable for your pet and a messy problem for you. Talk to your veterinarian about Proin, a prescription medication for treating urinary incontinence. Proin reduces leakage by tightening the bladder sphincter muscle.
- Manages urinary incontinence in dogs
- Tightens the bladder sphincter muscle to control urine leakage
- Choose easy dosing liquid or chewable tablets
Age, disease, urinary stones, and even injury can cause a dog to loose complete control over her bladder. When that happens even a housetrained pet may dribble urine or loose large amounts of urine suddenly. If your dog has urinary incontinence, prescription Proin may help. The active ingredient in Proin, phenylpropanolamine, is a type of stimulant that causes the muscles in the bladder to contract therefore reducing urine leakage. Given over time, Proin keeps a constant level of phenylpropanolamine in the blood so your dog will have more bladder control. Note: Proin is classified as a controlled substance in our home state of Iowa, so prescriptions for Proin are only valid for six months. We must obtain a new prescription from your veterinarian every six months. Refill requests that exceed six months from the prescription date are not valid for this medication.
What you should know about Proin:
- Talk to your veterinarian before using this product.
- Follow dosing directions exactly - don’t give your pet more medication than directed and don’t skip doses.
- Read the label carefully for information about storage, possible side effects, and drug interactions.

From UndisclosedComments about Proin (Phenylpropanolamine)This is the first renewal of the Proin tablets. I had the liquid before and it worked so much better for my dog. She doesn't like to take pills. But the liquid was not available. The service was good. -
Quick & Easy
From Golden Valley, AZ, USAComments about Proin (Phenylpropanolamine)I have been purchasing this product from Vet Rx Direct for over a year. This time my vet would not fill the script without seeing my Dutchess even though she had refills available. Vet Rx Direct contacted me right away with the problem but held my order and did not cancel it. The next day Dutchess saw her vet and within two days her medication was on my doorstep. She loves the special cookies and the personalized cards that they send so we feel as if we know the wonderful person who took care of the order. -

A Necessary Evil
From Anchorage AlaskaComments about Proin (Phenylpropanolamine)Unfortunately, my lil girl has to be on this med for the rest of her life. The initial prescribed dose, which worked fine for 6 months, had to be increased when she had breakthrough urination. -
Excellent service!
From Berkeley, CA, USAComments about Proin (Phenylpropanolamine)This is the second time I've bought this product for my German Shepard and I'm really happy with the service. I appreciate that VetRxDirect contacted my vet to renew the prescription and shipped the package within a few days of when I placed the order. And the price was much lower than what I paid at our vet. I will definitely continue to use VetRxDirect for our dog's prescription needs.-

Controls his incontinence!
From Winthrop, ME, USAComments about Proin (Phenylpropanolamine)Our 9 yr. old Chesapeake Bay Retriever has had incontinence issues for 5 years. We were able to control it with ProIn, initially at a lower dose. As he has gotten older the dose has had to be increased. We had also used this with a previous older female dog who developed incontinence. We use it under the supervision of our vet. -

Effective with no discernible side effects
From Pomona, CA, USAComments about Proin (Phenylpropanolamine)I have reduced the amount of Proin from one tablet at night, a half-tablet in the morning and my 10-year-old German Shepherd mix has not leaked. I would like to reduce dosage further, but but don't want to take the risk of leakage. -
Great Service
From McCleary, WA, USAComments about Proin (Phenylpropanolamine)One of dogs has to take proin twice a day. It is nice to be able to order her meds ahead online so I always have a constant supply. Much cheaper than at the vet is an added bonus.
