What is Pancrezyme for Dogs and Cats?
- Pancrezyme relieves the symptoms of Pancreatic Insufficiency Disorder (PID) in dogs and cats. PID is also known as EPI, or Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency.
- This prescription medication replaces the pancreatic enzymes that your dog or cat doesn’t produce but needs to digest the protein, sugar, and fat in food.
Why do cats and dogs use Pancrezyme?
- Dogs and cats with maldigestion, or Pancreatic Insufficiency Disorder (PID)/ Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI), suffer from weight loss, discomfort, and hair loss because they can’t properly digest the nutrients in food.
- The condition shuts down the pancreas, which produces digestive enzymes.
- Pancrezyme replaces those enzymes so that your pet can digest needed proteins, sugars, and fats from food.
What else should I know about Pancrezyme?
- Improves digestion and nutrition absorption in pets with PID/ EPI.
- Fast acting.
- Powder form mixes easily with food.
- Pancreatic enzymes made from a pork product.
What problems could my dog or cat have with Pancrezyme?
- Cats often do not like the taste of the pancreatic enzymes powder and may be more likely to take tablets or capsules made from crushed tablets. Some cats also may eat one brand of enzymes and not another. Talk to your veterinarian if you are havign trouble with medicating your cat.
How do you use Pancrezyme?
- Pancrezyme works best when mixed with food and food is allowed to sit before feeding. Always follow your veterinarian's directions for use.
- If using tablets, make sure that your cat or dog gets water or food right after taking the tablets. This may reduce the risk of damage to the esophagous.
- Avoid inhaling powder as it may cause lung irritation or worsen asthma.
- Avoid contacting your skin with the powder. Wash any powder from your skin as soon as possible.
What is in Pancrezyme?
- Pancrezyme contains pancreatic enzymes that break down the nutrients in food.
- These enzymes typically come from pork sources.
Will I get what I see in the picture?
- Pancrezyme is a brand name. You will receive the exact brand that you request.
Is it important for my dog or cat to finish all of the Pancrezyme?
- Dogs and cats may use Pancrezyme for different lengths of time. Please consult your veterinarian if you have any questions.

Absolutely fantastic!!
From Trabuco Canyon, CAComments about PancrezymeOur Lhasa Apso started to eat everything in sight, all of which unfortunately just passed right through him - a constant mess that required constant clean up. On top of that, he was losing weight at a frightening rate. Our vet recommended a similar product which, although it worked just fine, it also caused our dog to smell rather, um.... let's just say not good. Not good at all. We gave this a try as an alternative, and it solved that issue (whew!!) while maintaining our dog's appetite, ability to digest food, and overall comfort level. Not to mention eliminating the constant need to clean up the mess. Within a couple of weeks his eating was back to normal, and his stool was once again nice and firm, and he started putting on weight. We've been giving this to him for about a year and a half now and everything continues to be wonderfully positive. At first I thought it would be sort of a pain to deal with at every meal - let's face it, having to dissolve the powder in water first, mix in with the food and let it "simmer" for 15-20 minutes just sounded like more work than feeding a dog should be. But it's really no big deal - I fix dinner for our dogs while my wife is cooking our dinner, we let their food sit while we eat, and then we feed the dogs. Big deal. For the amazing turnaround in our Lhasa's digestion and overall well being, the extra time needed to prepare the food is nothing. -

Expensive, but gave me my healthy puppy back!
From Newfield NY, USAComments about PancrezymeBefore Pancrezyme, my puppy Olive was beginning to waste away before our eyes. We could clearly see her ribs and were beginning to be able to see her spine. Not good. She was beginning to lose patience with the other dogs, and we were extremely worried about her. She had almost a month of diarrhea that was threatening to take our puppy away. Afterwards, she's back to her plush, lovable self. It took less than a week to see results: she stopped losing weight, and started to have more regular poops. Now, almost 2 months into it, you'd never know she was slowly starving to death. Stupid pancreas. A word of advice: experiment with the dosage -- sometimes less is more. She had a bit of a relapse when we upped her dosage, and continued her great progress once we brought her back down to the ~1tsp/meal ratio. -
