Excellent Product
Once you understand the deworming procedure - give the dewormer over a three-day period then again in three weeks and again in three months, it's easy to switch to a home deworming. This is the exact same Panacur that comes from your vet, but this one is much cheaper. I combined two different dosage amounts for my dogs, and the amounts are easy to look up online. I'm so glad to have found this website.

Not for tapeworms
I bought this to treat tapeworms in my 2 pups. It did not stop the problem. Two days later the tapeworms were back!

Great produst
From Miami, FL, USAComments about Panacur C (fenbendazole)I bought this powder form of panacur after our vet prescribe it in the liquid form. The amount necessary in the liquid form per treatment is a lot to handle with active dogs. The powder form mixes well with the dogs food and dissolves rapidly. This is the second treatment with panacur and we are having positive results. -

Dependable Panacur C
From Concord, MA, USAComments about Panacur C (fenbendazole)I dose my dogs with Panacur every 6 months, more often when they are hunting in the field and coming into contact with many critters and their 'leavings'. It is safe, easy, and very effective. I have never had a negative reaction or any problem with this product, and the dogs remain worm free.

-
It looks like it treats roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms. It does not say anything about treating or killing pinworms. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I gave my dogs per vet 3 days of panacur for hook and whip worms. Can I now follow up with safeguard ? I can't afford the panacur.?
-
Badger, Fenbendazole 22.2% granules (Panacur C) is used as a 3 day, weight based (50mg/kg), therapy for the control of hook, whip, tape, and round worms in dogs and puppies. Safe-Guard Canine Dewormer is also an over the counter product containing fenbendazole approved for use as a dewormer in dogs. Varying strengths and dosage forms of this medication exist that may differ from the Panacur C that was suggested by the veterinarian. It is important to contact your pet’s veterinarian to address affordability and discuss over the counter alternatives before choosing the best medication for your pet. Your pet’s veterinarian will also help you to determine if follow up therapy is needed. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My cat has Giardia. If panacurc can be used to treat this parasite, what is the recommended dose for a 7 lbs cat and how many doses and how often can it be repeated??
-
Fenbendazole, the active ingredient in Panacur C, is used for the treatment of Giardia. The Panacur C formulation is marketed for dogs with amounts of active ingredient that would likely be too high for a cat. There are different dosing ranges and durations of treatment that are used by veterinarians when treating with fenbendazole in cats. Consult with your veterinarian to determine if febendazole would be the preferred choice in treating your cats giardia. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is it common for small dogs (pom weighing 5 1/2 lbs) to experience some vomiting and diarrhea after first dose? Afraid to give her the second dose. Bloody mucus in stool continues.?
-
Panacur C is an antiparasitic agent used to rid dogs of various types of worms. This medication is usually tolerated fairly well, but vomiting and diarrhea may occur. Since this is the case with your pet, we suggest you contact your veterinarian so your dog may receive the best care. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is it still effective if I just dose for two days instead of three? I'm trying to save money plus it's hard to dose my dog. ?
-
The product is normally dosed for three consecutive days. The reasoning to give it for the third day is to ensure that the infection is gone, preventing further therapy. Thank you, VetRxDirect

We gave our dogs the recommended dosage for 3 days. Do we need to do a follow up dosage, and if so when??
-
Panacur C is used to remove parasites in dogs and generally well tolerated at higher doses well beyond the recommended dose. Also, this medication generally does not cause any adverse effects at the recommended dose. Three consecutive days of treatment is typically recommended, but the duration of therapy may vary depending on the type and severity of parasite infection you are treating. We recommend contacting your dog's veterinarian to check if your dog still needs a follow-up drug regimen once the Panacur C treatment is completed. Thank you, VetRxDirect

How often do i need to worm my dog with this medication??
-
Mellie, This question depends on the type of dog you have, the dog's age, and the amount of exposure to worms/eggs. The manufacturer recommends the following schedule to be used as guidance: Newly weaned pups (6-8 weeks old) should be dewormed at 6, 8, 10, and 12 weeks after birth. Dogs older than 6 months old should be dewormed at least twice yearly. Please contact your pet's veterinarian for further guidance. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I want to make sure I am getting the right dose for my dogs their Giant Schnauzers one is 46 mo. the other is 6 mo. And the oldest one weights 95- to 100 lbs. the pup weights 45-50 lbs. So the oldest one should take 8 grams and the youngest one 5 grams?
-
Donald, The suggested dosing for the Panacur C is 1 gram per 10 pounds of body weight. If your pet is in between the suggested weights, it is safe to go with the higher dose - a 35 pound dog may be treated with the 40 pound dose. The dosing schedule by weight is listed below. 10 pounds - 1 gram 20 pounds - 2 gram 30 pounds - 1 gram + 2 gram (3 grams total) 40 pounds - 4 gram 50 pounds - 1 gram + 4 gram (5 grams total) 60 pounds - 2 gram + 4 gram (6 grams total) 80 pounds - Two 4 gram (8 grams total) Over 80 pounds - Use combinations to obtain recommended daily dose Thank you, VetRxDirect

Have you ever heard of giving panacur c for 6 days instead if the recommended 3 days??
-
Patty, The package information on the Panacur-C states that a 3-day course of medication is recommended for deworming, however, if your veterinarian has recommended a longer course of treatment, we recommended heeding their instructions. The Panacur-C package does indicate that deworming schedules may vary depending on the climate where you live and the activity of your dog. If you have questions about appropriate deworming, please contact your veterinarian, as they will be best able to guide you based on your dog and your locale. Thank you, VetRxDirect
