The best miracle for our kitty
Kiki my 14 yo kitty was diagnosed with CKF in August after having normal bloodwork in May during her annual senior panel physical. Her decline was swift and devastating. Her normal 14 lb ginger body shrunk to 11 lbs and I could count her vertebrae. Our family was inconsolable and we began to say our goodbyes & try to decide what to do and when for her best comfort. Her normal appetite was completely gone and sometimes just smelling food would make her gag. No eating. I was syringe feeding her baby food just to get calories into her wasting body. We started this miracle ointment on her ear and overnight she was hungry again. This drug has extended her life and we are so grateful. She looks great and somewhat filled in again and seems happy & comfortable.

Something is wrong …
I have purchased this product from you for the past 4+ years. There is something wrong in the manufacturing of the medicine in tube. I opened a brand new tube and had to squeeze half the tube before any medication came out. I have another brand new tube and hesitate to open that one.
Please refund me or send replacement. This is unacceptable you need to follow up with manufacture.

Did not increase his appetite
From vancouverComments about Mirataz (mirtazapine) Transdermal OintmentIt was recommended to help increase my cat's appetite, he was always a good eater. He had stopped eating almost anything, the cream was to be given for 10 days, but was told after 3 or 4 I would definitely see a difference, there was none, in fact he slowly declined and ate even less. -

Great Appetite Stimulant
From UndisclosedComments about Mirataz (mirtazapine) Transdermal OintmentReally helps with my older kitty's appetite. It's less likely to cause the unwanted side effect of excessive stimulation/meowing than the oral type of this med. Also, I'm able to give a smaller dose easily. -
Great to stimulate appetite in a sick kitty.
From UndisclosedComments about Mirataz (mirtazapine) Transdermal OintmentGreat product, easy to use - only problem is it makes your pet annoyingly ask for food at all hours! (Cat comes and bats you in the face with her paw at 5 in the morning ....) But that's not the fault of the product! :) -

Affectionate and hungry
From UndisclosedComments about Mirataz (mirtazapine) Transdermal OintmentI've had my cat on it for half a year and have experienced consistent results. It is easy to apply. I just put a little on a my finger cot and apply it to the inner ear. He hardly makes a fuss. In fact he purrs the whole time! Easy peasy. It starts to work in a couple hours. He also gets super affectionate. -
Yes I would buy this product again.
From UndisclosedComments about Mirataz (mirtazapine) Transdermal OintmentThis stuff is amazing, within an hour or two, our cat is searching for anything and everything to eat. It is also very easy to administer to the inside of the ear but you must wear a rubber glove since it is a transdermal medication. Have never had a medication that worked better and was so easy to apply.

When I got my Miracast ointment it was all liquid. I put it in the refrigerator since it was overheated during its shipment, is that okay to use it now? Can I keep it in the refrigerator from now on or should I keep it at room temperature? Thanks in advance.?
-
Per the manufacturer, Mirataz Transdermal Ointment can be stored in the refrigerator if preferred, however, Mirataz should not be used if exposed to temperatures exceeding 76°F (store below 77°F). The product may become liquid at temperatures nearing this temperature. If the product liquifies at a temperature below 77°F, store in a cool area and let the product re-firm. If Mirataz is exposed to temperatures reaching 77°F or above, the product should not be used. Please contact the pharmacy’s customer service email with any further questions or concerns.

I gave my cat one dose of this ointment and she's been eating very well after that. I don't think I need to give her any more for a while.i know it says discard after 30 days will it do any harm to apply it again if need be after the time. I would hate to throw it away. That would be like throwing away my money. Cuz she might have to take it again in the next few months?
-
According to the manufacturer, the multi-use tube must be discarded within 30 days of the first use. This is because there is no data on the stability of the drug 30 days after the tube is opened. The expiration date is printed on the flap of the carton and on the crimped portion of the tube. It is not recommended to use expired medications due to potential health risks. Please consult with your veterinarian with any further questions or concerns regarding this product in your cat.

I gave my cat 2 doses still not eating how long does it take to work ??
-
According to Plumb’s Veterinary Drug Handbook, mirtazapine should help your animal feel better within 1 to 2 days. Your animal’s clinical signs should improve after that time. The effects of this medication are short-lived, meaning they will stop working within 24 hours. Please consult your veterinarian with any further questions or concerns regarding this medication and your cat.
Verified Answer -
Usually works within hours. I would not give more than the recommended dose; in fact, I'd start off with half of what they recommend.

why do they say not to have contact with the animal 2 hours after application??
-
According to the manufacturer’s labeled warning: After application, care should be taken that people or other animals in the household do not come in contact with the treated cat for 2 hours because mirtazapine can be absorbed transdermally and orally.

My elderly cat stopped eating and we now find it is because of a large tumor on or near her liver. She is very jaundiced and very emaciated. She seems to like mirataz but still eats almost nothing. I wonder if it is safe to keep giving it to her. It seems to make her feel good but she doesn't always seem to feel good after eating the tiny bit she eats. She is not in any condition for the tumor to be treated. Thank you.?

Sorry about you dog. I hope he's doing better. Why are you "feeding" the Mirataz to your dog. It says to put it on the ear. There is a pill that does the same thing. I believe it's the same thing but pill form

I began the Mirataz 4 days ago, but I forgot which ear I last used. I wasn't paying attention and didn't write it down. What if I apply to same pinna by accident??
-
The manufacturer recommends alternating the daily application of Mirataz between the left and right inner pinna of the ears. There is currently no information regarding repeat applications of this medication to the same ear. The manufacturer states that if a dose is missed, apply Mirataz the following day and resume daily dosing. Please speak to your veterinarian with any further questions or concerns regarding this medication and your cat.
Verified Answer -
We have accidentally applied to the same ear and it can irritate the ear, but no ill effects after a few days.
