Great value!
From Brownsville ORComments about Lactated Ringers SolutionWe administer lactated ringers to our elderly cat who has CKD two or three times a week. We paid twice as much for several years, so we are pleased to find the same quality for half the price. The fluids keep our cat hydrated and although he gets fidgety during the process, we can tell he feels better afterward. -

Q & A
-
How many 500ml LRS bags are there to a case? And is it possible to order a case??
-
Lactated ringers solution bags must be labeled and sold individually in order to comply with pharmaceutical sales laws; therefore, cases of LRS may not be purchased.
Verified Answer -
That must be a new law, because I have ordered cases of these other places.

We've been giving our cat sub-q fluids for a year and a half now - buying our lactated ringers through VetRx. Recently, the brand VetRx has been sending has changed. it is now Vetivex. The measurement markers on the side of the Vetivex seem WAY off. The 900 mL marker is at around 1/3 of the way up the bag. It seems way more than 100 mL of fluid. All the other brands we used had the 900 mL mark much lower on the bag. We're not sure how to properly measure the fluids using these bags anymore. Please help! I've included a link to a picture of a similar bad (not lactated ringers) from Vetivex. You can see on the side just how high up the 900mL mark is on the bag. http://www.dechra-us.com/admin/public/getimage.ashx?image=/Files/Images/ecom/products/us/Vetivex_3.jpg&altFmImage_path=/Files/Images/ecom/dummy-product.png&crop=0&Width=460?

It has come to our attention that Vetivex has recently had a manufacturing error resulting in overfilled bags and incorrect fluid level measurements. If you have received a Vetivex bag of 1000ml Lactated Ringers solution fitting this description, please contact us at 1-866-761-6578 and we will get you a replacement.

I also don't trust those lines on the bag. For what it's worth, We use a digital "fish scale" I got cheap. We hang the bag on the scale and zero it when we start ... watch until the weight gets to -100g. This shows that 100ml of fluid have been given.

If my cat needs 200 cc via 18 guage syringe daily, can I reuse the fluid in the 1000 cc bag, or should I order a larger quantity of the 250 cc bags??
-
It is recommended to use 250cc bags daily. As this product contains no antimicrobial agents, reusing bags can increase risk of infections with extended reuse. Therefore it is recommended that the unused portion of 1000 cc bags should be discarded. It is best to follow the directions of your cat's veterinarian and consult them for additional recommendations.
Verified Answer -
I give my cat 100 ml every couple days and I use a 1000 ml bag over the course of time. This is exactly how my vet sells the fluid bags as well. I use new needles every time (never reuse them). And make sure you don't touch the open ports when changing the needle . Use a fresh venoset line at least every other bag change.

So the item I received has two "tube like" openings rather than the flat rubber gasket type I saw when I ordered. I need to make sure I am installing the Administration set correctly. Please advise.?
-
The two ports that are connected to the IV bag each serve a different purpose. The port without the blue cover is used for adding medications into the bag to be administered by IV infusion. The blue cover on the second port iis removed prior to connecting the IV bag to the tubing set for administration to your pet. The blue cover acts as a barrier to the outside environment and bacteria, ensuring that the solution is in a sterile environment. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I currently get these from my vet, but it's the same type. 1000ml. The bag is always filled above the 1, so does that mean the bag is actually MORE than 1000 mls? how much above is it filled? it looks around 50-75mls. Thank you.?
-
The manufacturer (Zoetis, Inc.) indicated that there is no evidence that suggest that there is overfill with any of their bags. They suggest contacting them directly at 1-866-292-8910 to make a full assessment if there are any concerns regarding the volume of their bags. Thank you, VetRxDirect
