Great results!
I have a 16 year old cat whose had many bouts with a combination of constipation and diarrhea and has gone all over my apt many times. This product has proven to be VERY effective for preventing this issue! I'm very grateful and the price is less than at my vet. Thank you!

Difficult to rate
My cat was prescribed liquid lactulose which he fought from the outset and he began to run from me when he detected that a dose was coming so I decided to try the Kristalose powder which was reportedly tasteless and would not be detected when sprinkled in food. At first it seemed to work as expected, but after a few days he began to shun food to which it had been added. Then I tried dissolving it in milk and again for a few days he lapped it up but eventually stopped drinking milk to which it had been added. I do not blame the product--I have read many reviews which indicate that some cats will consume it in their food without objection which I would consider a blessing but I believe it depends on the cat (or other pets). Therefore I cannot rate the product effectively.

Cat Friendly
From Florida, USAComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose)My cat would not take the lactulose liquid by mouth. I can mix this with her canned food and she eats it easily. -
Great product
From DeKalb,ILComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose)Vet gave me script for the liquid(lactulose) which was messy and sticky! My cat would spit it out after wrestling to the ground to take it. This is so easy, just sprinkle it on his food and it's gone!!! -
SUPER HAPPY! A MIRACLE
From San Diego, CA, USAComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose)Hi. This is the BEST to keep you pet's stool soft. We have a cat with constipation and other health issues. Lactulose (WHICH IS A LIQUID) has a very bitter taste to cats and is very sticky. Our cat hated the liquid and started to hide which made her stressed and me! KRISTALOSE is sprinkled on food and has NO TASTE OR SMELL so our cat does not even know she is taking medicine! Our other cat eats out of her dish too and his poop is a little softer which is good for him! So grateful for this powder!!! -
Powder lactulose versus syrup form
From New YorkComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose)My vet recommended the syrup form of lactulose and it pretty much saved my 18 year old cat. BUT, her hair was sticky and she ran from me every time I had to give it to her. So I did my research and found Kristulose, the powder form of lactulose. I mix it into her food. My finicky cat does not mind it at all and it works wonderfully. I watch her very carefully and decide when she should go back on it. I hope to avoid any future enemas for her which was very trumatic. I do give her lots of liquid as any of these products can be dehydrating. -
What a relief
From Punta Gorda, FLComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose)Our cat Mickey suffers from chronic constipation and megacolon. He has been on lactulose for years. It was a struggle to medicate him because he hates the sweet syrupy liquid. Now, I just mix a teaspoon of Kristalose in his food and he laps it up.

My cat gets 2 ml of liquid Lactulose. How much tsp wise would I give in powder for to be equivalent to 2 ml if the liquid??
-
Kristalose is a powdered form of Lactulose. Lactulose is a prescription medication that eases constipation in cats and dogs and can also be beneficial in treating liver disease. Liquid lactulose can come in various concentrations but the stock concentration is 10g/15mL. Per the manufacturer, one teaspoon of kristalose is approximately 4.2 grams of powdered lactulose. This would mean that 2 mL of the Lactulose Solution would be approximately 0.32 tsp, or 1.33 grams, of the powdered Kristalose. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication in your dog.

Hi, does lactulose (for cat) increase blood sugars? Im reading some say yes, some no. Same question for Kristalose powder? Thank you kindly.?
-
According to Plumb’s Veterinary Drug Handbook, Lactulose syrup contains some free lactose and galactose and may alter the insulin requirements in diabetic patients. According to the manufacturer's product label, Kristalose is contraindicated in patients who require a low galactose diet as it contains galactose (less than 0.3 g/10 g as a total sum with lactose). Please consult with your veterinarian with any further questions or concerns regarding the use of this medication for your pet.

20-gram Kristalose packets are "out of stock." When will they be back in stock??
-
Can a 10g sachet of Kristalose be mixed into a saturated solution with less than 15ml of water? I ask because I need to concentrate an oral solution of lactulose for a 3-month old foster kitten who has been diagnosed with neurogenic bowel and wish to minimise the dosing volume for compliance. Thank you.?
-
Kristalose may be mixed with a liquid, however there is no current information regarding the solubility of Kristalose when placed in less than 15 ml of water. Kristalose powder may also be mixed with wet food or gravy to mask the taste of lactulose and help increase compliance in cats. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication.

My cat is currently getting 3 milliliters of (liquid) lactulose 3 times a day. If I switch to Kristalose, how much should he get each time I give it to him (3 times a day)? Thank you.?
-
The strength of the liquid Lactulose Solution is 10g/15 mL and a 10 g packet of Kristalose also contains 10 grams of lactulose. Your pet receives 3 milliliters or 2 grams of lactulose per dose (6 grams total per day). Kristalose is generally dosed in terms of the packet. They are available in 10g and 20g packets. Your veterinarian may recommend a fraction of the packet, instead of the whole packet. Please refer to your veterinarian on how they would like you to give the medication to your pet.

Hello! Is there a difference in the formula of the Kristalose in the 10 gram packet and the 20 gram packet? I do not understand the pricing, unless the 10 gram package is more concentrated and requires less quantity/dose. Could you please explain the difference??
-
There is no difference in the formulation of Kristalose between the 10gm packet and the 20gm packet. The pricing is a reflection of the acquisition cost to VetRxDirect. Even though the 20gm packet is only slightly more expensive than the 10gm packet, the manufacturer does not have any information on the best way to store the packet after opening and is therefore not recommended. Unopened Kristalose packets should be stored at room temperature. Please contact your veterinarian for further information. Thank you, VetRxDirect

When dosing my cat with this product, I will only be using a portion of the packet. Once opened, is the product still good to use again because I notice it is considered a single dose (for people). What would be the best method of storing it once opened??
-
Kristalose (lactulose) is a medication used to treat constipation and hepatic encephalopathy. .Kristalose has two packet sizes available--20 gram and 10 gram. The dose of Kristalose is based on the indication, body weight, and the stool quality desired. Administering accurate and appropriate dose will help you get the best treatment results. Kristalose should be stored at room temperature; do not freeze and protect from light. Inappropriate storage may affect the efficacy and safety of the medication. Please consult your veterinarian regarding how to appropriately dose and store kristalose once it is opened. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Hello, According to the package insert you linked this product to, "The usual adult dosage is 10 g to 20 g of lactulose daily." Is the product you're selling an altered product? The package reads "single dose"- for humans? or for cats? It is extremely expensive if you give all of it in one dose. My 21 year old cat's vet has not heard of this product. She would not know how much to prescribe for him (11 lbs). Is there a package insert for CATS? I would not be comfortable guessing at the correct amount to give him! Sincerely, Martha?
-
Kristalose (lactulose) is a human-labeled product that can be used in animals. There are no veterinary-labeled lactulose products currently. Lactulose is used to treat constipation in cats at a recommended dose of ⅓ g / kg twice daily mixed with food. This means your cat would need 1.67 g per dose, if your veterinarian wants to use the recommended dose. If you purchased the 20 gram packet there would be enough for 12 doses. Talk with your veterinarian to see if this is the best option for your cat. Thank you, VetRxDirect
