Great results!
I have a 16 year old cat whose had many bouts with a combination of constipation and diarrhea and has gone all over my apt many times. This product has proven to be VERY effective for preventing this issue! I'm very grateful and the price is less than at my vet. Thank you!
Most Liked Negative Review
Difficult to rate
My cat was prescribed liquid lactulose which he fought from the outset and he began to run from me when he detected that a dose was coming so I decided to try the Kristalose powder which was reportedly tasteless and would not be detected when sprinkled in food. At first it seemed to work as expected, but after a few days he began to shun food to which it had been added. Then I tried dissolving it in milk and again for a few days he lapped it up but eventually stopped drinking milk to which it had been added. I do not blame the product--I have read many reviews which indicate that some cats will consume it in their food without objection which I would consider a blessing but I believe it depends on the cat (or other pets). Therefore I cannot rate the product effectively.

Kristalose Powder
From Ventura County, CaliforniaComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose)This product really works. I / we could not handle the administration of the oral medication (lactulose) by Syringe. I mix first hot water - an ounce or so. then add it to a VERY MOIST Cat food ( I.E. An Example is fancy feast for gravy lovers). 1/2 teaspoon daily, or more if needed for Laxative -
Kristalose - Great product - works - easy to administer
From Simi Valley CAComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose)….. Our recipe ….. One half teaspoon (min.) of Kristalose, dissolved in a little hot tap water, added to (very Wet..) One half can of the small F.F. - GRAVY Lovers - once a day. The rest of the day he prefers his Crunchy fiber response. This usually does the trick, and we are both very happy. This is less amount than prescribed, but I increase the dosage as necessary. But it is enough to do the trick This is Truly a Life-saver - SO much gentler and humane I / we physically were unable to administer the liquid lactalose in the Syringe format, and My vet knew of NO other option.! So I researched extensively, and found this product, and then again, where I could obtain it. I do not know why this manufacturer is not educating, and marketing it to the Vet. community. Very convenient, but it is Pricey We're both very happy, We Highly recommend this product. -
This medication helped my cat become more regular =)
From UndisclosedComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose) 20 Gram PacketMy poor cat has chronic constipation and our vet switched him from the liquid to this. SO much gentler and humane than having to squirt the liquid in his mouth slowly. He eats this up just fine I mix it in with his food and he really doesn't seem to notice!-
Anything that helps my sweet Fin is worth it

NO MORE MEDICATION MADNESS!
From UndisclosedComments about Kristalose (powder lactulose) 20 Gram PacketMy Veterinarian suggested this product, however, I was unable to locate it anywhere near me. I tried everything to get my cat to eat the liquid lactulose I had. I mixed it in food. I mixed it in her water. I tried to give it in a syringe. I actually could not even hold onto her long enough to get the syringe into her mouth! I did not want the sticky syrup everywhere either. I looked online and found this product at vetRxdirect.com. This powder mixed into the Churu tubes (included in my first shipment) so well that I have re-ordered the powder lactulose along with the Churu tubes!!! My cat, Anna, loves it! The fights are over and she gets her medication as ordered! We're both happy!! -

My cat is on Lactulose (liquid) and hates it! I found your website and Kristalose and am keen to get hold of some but can't find it for sale in the UK. Can you ship it to the UK and if so, what would that cost? Thanks.?
-
No, unfortunately we do not ship to the UK. Just within the United States at this time. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I live in Canada and my vet has never heard of kristalose and claims lactulose is not available in powder form. Is this product available in Canada or must I buy it online??
-
The brand Kristalose is a powder dosage form of lactulose and is manufactured in the United States. We tried multiple times to contact the manufacturer but have not received a response. Try contacting the manufacturer to see if you’re able to get additional information on the distribution of this product. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My cat does not like taking the oral dose, probably more fear of being held and having medicine forced down her throat as she does like maple syrup. If I use the powder on her dry food (she will not eat wet food) will she be able to smell it??
-
Kristalose powder can be sprinkled over the food to help with administering this medication as long as your cat is consuming the entire dose. Many cats do not like the taste of this medication so it will be important to mix it with food that will help mask any unpleasant flavor. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Hi - My cat currently uses Lactulose and doesn't like the sticky syrup. Looking to switch to Kristalose. When looking to buy, it's states 10 grams per packet / single d. So for the price, do I get only one packet? Or is that price for multiple packets??
-
JamesD, Kristalose is listed as price per 10g or 20g packets. Within the last couple of months, the acquisition cost of this product increased, therefore the price increase a bit too. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I found that 10 g Kristalose = 15 ml Lactulose, but gram is a weight measure, and ml is a volume measurement. How many teaspoons = 1 ml lactulose? The manufacturer's site doesn't say, and my vet doesn't know how to calculate this either. Thanks!?
-
Noelle, The strength of the Lactulose Oral Solution is 10g/15mL and a 10g packet of Kristalose also contains 10g of lactulose. It is generally accepted that 1 teaspoon equals approximately 5mL; so a teaspoonful of the Lactulose Oral Solution would contain approximately 3.33 grams of lactulose. The Kristalose is generally dosed in terms of the packet rather than in teaspoonfuls, as many pet owners do not reconstitute the Kristalose, or do not reconstitute in the same volume as humans taking the medication would. Your pet's veterinarian may recommend a fraction of a packet instead (i.e. 1/8, 1/10, etc). If your pet's veterinarian has any questions or concerns about dosing the Kristlose, they are welcome to call and ask to speak with a pharmacist, who would be happy to answer any questions the vet may have. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I'm using your powder for my 18 year old cat and its working. I didn't realize that I ordered 10mg the first time and 20 the next time. Is the dosage one half for the 20 or is 20 just the size of the packet.?
-
Phyllis, The grams on the Kristalose packets refer to the size of the packet, not the strength of the medication. The strength of the Kristalose is the same. Thank you, VetRxDirect

my cat has to take lactulose and sometimes he hates it-- does kristalose have same affect - and can it be used by sprinking on his wet food or in a bit of gravy - my vet has never heard of it- so please give me info I can offer her--- thanks?
-
Virginia, Kristalose is a very popular brand named powdered lactulose for constipation in cats. Kristalose will have the same effect as the liquid lactulose you are currently giving your cat. You may mix it with food, gravy, or water, but you must make sure your cat takes the entire prescribed dose and finishes the entire meal or drink to ensure the correct amount of drug is getting into your cat's system. Kristalose is supplied as 10 or 20 gram packets. Often times, veterinarians prescribe a portion of a packet. This is a question best answered by your cat's veterinarian. We hope this information helps, VetRxDirect
