Great customer service
I had my vet do the heartworm test, and asked her to write me a prescription for a 12 month supply. Heartworm test was negative, (thank God). I had told her that he liked the Heartgard, chewable kind. My vet is very busy and wrote the prescription for pills, not chewable. I realized it when I got home, I let vetrxdirect.com know about the mistake. They took over, got in touch with my vet., and had the prescription switched to what I wanted, and filled the order within the week. THAT IS COSTERMER SERVICE YOU DO NOT SEE MUCH OF ANYMORE!!!

confirmed. It contains beef. My dog is allergic
It does have beef in it. I called the company. My dog happens to be allergic to beef. Wish it said that in the ingredients. It doesn't.

No beef!
From Marion, AR, USAComments about Heartgard TabletsMy Yorkie Poo is allergic to many foods and borderline allergic to beef, so we needed a substitute heart worm medicine. Our vet recommended we order the no beef tablets since he doesn't carry them. We're glad to find this product. -
Heartgard tablets
From UndisclosedComments about Heartgard TabletsI was so excited to find out that they started making unflavored Heartgard tablets again. My dog has food allergies and I had to use a topical medication until now. And no one except VetRXDirect carries the unflavored. It was easy and convenient to order and I received it much quicker that I expected. -

-
This product is the brand name Heartgard and not a generic version. VetRxDirect carries the exact Heartgard unflavored that would be available from your vet.

Does the Heartgard tablet also treat for parasites like whipworms??
-
What is the physical size (dimensions) of the unflavored Heartguard tablet for the 1 to 25-pound dogs??
-
they have been backordered for more than a year so you won't be able to order them anyhow. They were small enough I could put in a pill pocket and my CKCS could eat them.

My 14 year old pug has been on Hearthard chewable his entire life. Recently he was diagnosed with IBD. He was transitioned to Heartgaurd Tablets. He currently weighs 18 lbs. The tablets for dogs under 20 lbs was not available. I was given the tablets for dogs 20 to 50 lbs, ans told to split them and give half the dose. The tablets are not scored and do not split evenly or stay intact. I am asking if this is a prudent way to address the unavailability of the weight appropriate tablets.?
-
It is not recommended to split tablets that are not scored. Please contact your veterinarian for the best option for your dog.
Verified Answer -
you should not split them. The medicine may not be distributed evenly throughout the pill.

Is the tablet small enough for a maltese to swallow. She will not chew anything but dry dog food and will pick out anything else in her bowl?
-
Speak with your veterinarian about the best options for heartworm and intestinal parasite control. There are chewable and topical options available for prevention of heartworms and intestinal parasites if an oral tablet dosage form is not appropriate for your pet.

My German shepherd is on a strict hypo allergenic diet. Are these really unflavored? She cannot have any type of flavor in her treats or pet products. Thanks in advance.?
-
After contacting Merial, the company that manufactures Heartgard, it was confirmed that their are NO flavors or food products used to manufacture the unflavored Heartgard tablets. The fact that this medication has no added flavors and food products makes it ideal for dogs with allergies to certain meats or additives.
