Great customer service
I had my vet do the heartworm test, and asked her to write me a prescription for a 12 month supply. Heartworm test was negative, (thank God). I had told her that he liked the Heartgard, chewable kind. My vet is very busy and wrote the prescription for pills, not chewable. I realized it when I got home, I let vetrxdirect.com know about the mistake. They took over, got in touch with my vet., and had the prescription switched to what I wanted, and filled the order within the week. THAT IS COSTERMER SERVICE YOU DO NOT SEE MUCH OF ANYMORE!!!

confirmed. It contains beef. My dog is allergic
It does have beef in it. I called the company. My dog happens to be allergic to beef. Wish it said that in the ingredients. It doesn't.

no flavoring for dogs with pork allergy
From UndisclosedComments about Heartgard TabletsMy Lillie has allergies to pork. These tablets do not have any flavoring, so they are perfect for her. I just wrap the tablet in a piece of cheese and followup quickly with another piece of cheese and she doesn't even know the pill was in the cheese. -

Perfect because my vet doesn't carry the tablets
From Watsontown, PAComments about Heartgard TabletsWe give this to my dog once a month for preventing heartworms. I'm thrilled to be able to get the tablets from Vet Rx because my vet doesn't carry the tablets. My vet carries a different form, but my dog requires the tablet form due to his food sensitivities. Because the medication comes as a tablet, I have a method to help my dog swallow it. Just before giving it to him, I put a little dry dog food (prescription diet) in a bowl, add a small teaspoon of pumpkin, and put the tablet in the pumpkin. Then I mix it up just a bit and hold the bowl for him to eat it. He gets a yummy treat, and by holding and tilting the bowl just so, I make sure he gets the tablet. There was one time he didn't swallow the tablet, so we had to try again. You have to serve it right away, though, because the tablet will start to dissolve when it comes into contact with moisture. I just wish I could buy a year's worth of medication at a time. I buy every 6 months. Overall, I'm a happy customer. #sweepstakes -
Perfect because my vet doesn't carry the tablets
From UndisclosedComments about Heartgard TabletsVery happy with Heartgard. My dog has food sensitivities, so we need the tablet form of Heartgard instead of the 'treat' version that our other dog gets. My vet doesn't carry the tablet form and recommended Vet Rx. It was a painless process getting my dog signed up, and I love that I can request refills that Vet Rx takes care of, including getting a new script if needed. It's also sweet that each package contains a cute little treat with limited ingredients. The only thing I wish is that I could order a year's worth of tablets at a time, like we do with our other dog's Heartgard. Overall, pleased with the product, set-up, and speed of the process and shipping. -
Great alternative for dogs with Allergies
From UndisclosedComments about Heartgard TabletsMy dog is allergic to beef, which is in most heartworm medications, so I am so thankful that they make this now! -
So happy to find these hard-to-find meds at VetRxDirect!
From UndisclosedComments about Heartgard TabletsOur dog Hank has beef allergies so we had to find an alternative preventative heartworm medication for him. Not many pet pharmacies carry the flavorless tablets but fortunately I found them here at VetRxDirect. He took the tablet with peanut butter with no problem and he has been a happy, heartworm-free pup since. Thank you to the company for making these available for sensitive dogs like our 90-lb baby Hank!-

No stomach issues with tablet.
From UndisclosedComments about Heartgard TabletsWe have a dog with IBD so we use the Tablets instead of the chews so not to upset his system. Only just started it but the 1st tab results were ok, no issues.

My dog had IBD and is medicine sensitive. He weighs 13 lbs. should he get a whole tablet or half due to his weight? Also, is this chewable? He used o take Heartguard Plus.?
-
The Heartgard Tablets are available in three different sizes based on weight. Since your dog is 13 lbs, the 1-25 lb size would be most appropriate, and you would give a whole tablet. The Heartgard tablets are not chewable and should be given whole.

If my dog is exactly 50 pounds, is it safe to provide the 50-100lb product or should we administer the 25-50lb product??
-
Heartgard Tablets come in three different strengths: up to 25 lbs, 26-50 lbs, and 51-100 lbs. According to the manufacturer, it is safe to provide the larger dose if your pet is borderline between two strengths. Your veterinarian can help determine the best dose.

Can I crush this pill up and mix with my dog's food. I have a hard time getting a pill into my dog.?
-
Heartgard chewable tablets may be broken into pieces and given to your dog. When doing so, it is important to ensure that your animal receive the full dose of the medication and that your animal swallows each piece in its entirety. The manufacturer indicated that there is no material available suggesting that Heartgard non-chewable tablets may be crushed. If chosen to do so, it is also also important to ensure that your animal receive the full dose of the medication. Thank you, VetRxDirect

can I order Heart Guard for 2 dogs at the same time as long as they each have a prescription??
-
Yes, part of the ordering process is to select a pet name for each prescription item being purchased so you would just need to order two boxes of Heartgard and select one pet for one box and the other pet for the second box. Thank you, VetRxDirect

What happens if my puppy got a triple dose of heartgard? My daughter was watching her when I asked her to give the medicine. She went on to give it to her each day while she watch her. My 4month oil puppy got 3 doses in 3 days?
-
Although Heartgard is a very safe medicine, a triple dose is cause for concern. Contact your veterinarian as soon as possible to let them know about the triple dose and to ask them what should be done. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My dog is 3 yrs old can I give my dog heart guard to prevent heart worms without going to the vet??
-
Heartgard requires a prescription so you would have to go to the veterinarian. They have to make sure the dog does not have heart worms before they would prescribe the Heartgard, so that is why you cannot get it without a prescription. Thank you, VetRxDirect
