50% less than the animal hospital pharmacy
My cat, Maximus, has feline herpes. The opthamologist at the animal hospital prescribed Famcilovir which was very expensive but I found it for half the price at VetRxDirect. The infection was cleared up in 10 days. It was a pleasure doing business with your staff who contacted the animal hospital, filled and shipped the medication within a couple of days. I highly recommend VetRxDirect to all my friends and pet owners.

Famciclovir: mixed results on feline upper resp
Trying this for the first time on a feline upper resp infection, getting mixed results - it seems to be effective on some aspects of the problem, but not others. Two days to go on Rx, so we'll see if the next 48 hrs (4 tabs) do the trick or not. If it doesn't, I CANNOT honestly say that Famciclovir "didn't work," all I CAN say is that my cat may have a resistance to it or have a different "bug" than this product is intended to treat.

Works well against feline rhinovirus every time
From Asheville, NCComments about Famciclovir (Generic)Since rhinovirus cannot be cured permanently, I keep a stock of this antiviral on hand for when my cat comes down with a cold. The symptoms begin to disappear after about a day. The dosage my vet prescribes is 1/2 tablet daily, but even a half tab is kind of large. So I put it in a gelatin capsule to administer, which is easier for me to hold securely while I put it the cat's mouth. Usually takes about 6 days for the cold to go away. The key is to start giving it to the cat the same day I see him start sneezing, instead of waiting a couple more days. It works very well every time. -
Seems to be working
From AtlantaComments about Famciclovir (Generic)Vet recommended this for my cat who she thinks might have feline herpes. His sneezing/stuffy nose has gone away... so seems to be working! -
Famciclovir for feline Herpes in the eyes
From Dallas, TX, USAComments about Famciclovir (Generic)I have a 14 year old male cat who has probably always had herpes in the upper respiratory system. He's always had issues, but only in the last year got symptomatic in the eyes bad enough for me to seek medical help. He was getting huge globs of reddish discharge with irritation of the eye, the lids sticking together from the discharge, I was constantly having to clean his eyes out. He was also having discharge from his nose and had hearing loss. He got a scratched cornea from dried discharge that he rubbed onto his eyeball and that was expensive to treat. The vet prescribed 1/2 250 mg tablet of the Famciclovir twice a day. She said if it was herpes (didn't do a test, just prescribed the meds because she said she was pretty sure it was herpes), I'd see an improvement within a couple of days and I did. His eye is much better, looks normal, and he takes the 1/2 a pill twice every day (will be forever). Works well with no side effects that I see. It's not hard to pill this cat with this medicine, apparently it doesn't taste bad. He would eat it if it wasn't a pill. If your cat is hard to pill, I suspect you could mash it into his food. The only draw back is that the pills from vetrxdirect are coated and not scored so breaking in half is difficult and mashing into food will be hard. The pills I got from the vet were scored and not coated so they were easier to deal with but much more expensive. -
Feline Herpes - BIG helper

Saved me a lot of money and helped my cat!
From Danvers, MAComments about Famciclovir (Generic)My cat recently suffered from some type of viral infection that affected one of her eyes to a point that the inner lid had become badly inflamed. The medicine recommended turned out to be very expensive thorough the local pharmacy so I decided to see if there was anything online. To my surprise, I found this medicine at a fraction of the cost (over 50%). While kitty's eye cleared up several days later, I still was ordered to use a week of the new medicine. So far so good. The part I really liked was the ability of the people at VetRxdirect to work with my cat's vet and get authorization. Thanks so much

How palatable is the taste to a cat, if crushed and administered in soft food? Would it be easier to try it transdermal if available? My herpes cat also has stomatitis and is extremely sensitive regarding his mouth. Anytime I can avoid pilling or giving liquid or his not getting a dose on a day he doesn't want to eat, that's the best thing.?
-
The famciclovir tablets can be either split or crushed and mixed with a small amount of wet food to make them more palatable. Famciclovir is currently not available in a transdermal formulation.
