• My 6.5 month old AussieDoodle female puppy "grabbed" a 15gm mostly used tube of Entederm that her vet prescribed for otitis externa in her flap and outer ear canal. It happened right in front of us and she immediately ran away from us as though knew she was doing something very wrong. We got the tube away from her after about 5-7 minutes of chasing her around the house. The tube was punctured by her tooth and ointment was all over the outside of the tube. She did not appear to be licking and swallowing but we are worried about her after reading about serious problems following ingestion. She drank a lot of water immediately and does not appear to be ill, Is there anything else we should do or watch for??

• applicator has no hole in it. i punctured with the cap, screwed the long tip applicator but when you twist to open it there still is no hole at the end.?

  • The EnteDerm Ointment comes in a tube with a separate applicator. The original tube cap has a pointed end used to puncture the foil sealing the tube. The applicator can then be screwed on. The applicator cap can be pulled open revealing a needle-like plastic structure with an opening at the tip. Please see attached pictures. If there is no opening at the tip of the applicator when the cover is removed, then it could be a manufacturer error.

• Is EnteDerm as effective for inner ear infections on a dog as Gentizol? I'm asking because I've always used Gentizol but my vet prescribed EnteDerm recently and after 2 weeks of use the ear was still infected. Thank you!?

  • Both medications are indicated for use in ear infections for dogs but contain different active ingredients. Gentizol topical ointment is labeled for acute and chronic ear infections. It contains gentamicin as an antibiotic, betamethasone as a corticosteroid, and clotrimazole as a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. EnteDerm is a topical ointment indicated for the treatment of acute and chronic otitis, ear infection, and certain types of skin infections. It contains nystatin, neomycin sulfate, thiostrepton and triamcinolone acetonide. Entederm ointment provides four basic therapeutic effects: anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antifungal and antibacterial. Your veterinarian is the best source of information regarding the use of the medications in your dog. It is recommended that you consult with your veterinarian with any further questions.
