My senior Dog has a rare heart cancer and can't have dental work right now so we use clyndamyacin once a month to keep any would be infection away. We hope he'll be able to have dental in the future but right now this is our best option. He's had no side effects and no signs of infection in his bloodwork
Most Liked Negative Review
If I could give negative stats I would
I ordered meds mid day and 24 hours later after messages and trying to call I got 2 partial texts the last one indicating they did not have enough pics on hand to fill a 30 day scrip. I will never try to use them again. They are not easy to contact and slow.

Q & A

My dog started taking Clindamycin. He seems to be in pain. He is moaning like something is hurting him. Any suggestions ???
-
Clindamycin is commonly associated with nausea and stomach upset. Administration with plenty of food and water may decrease these effects. Please consult your veterinarian to further assess your dog’s condition.

Can this be used for a feral cat that was in a fight and now has an infection?
-
Clindamycin treats dental, soft tissue, and bone infections due to bacteria in dogs and cats. A proper diagnosis by your veterinarian will be necessary to determine if clindamycin can be used for your cat's infection. Inappropriate antibiotic use can lead to suboptimal treatment outcomes and drug resistance. Please contact your veterinarian for the optimal treatment options. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I understand the frustration trying to treat a feral cat, when he / she is too "wild" to be treated by a vet. It can be very hard. The best thing I have found is to "sneak" a PROBIOTIC into a little wet food every day. There are multi-strain pet probiotics available. I have found that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", at the risk of sounding corny.

Hello, My cat has been prescribed 75mg of Clinda BID for suspected toxo. If I mix the powder contents of capsule in 1ml of H2O and follow it with 5-6 ml's of H2O, will it have the same irritating effects? Also will it be absorbed the same? Thank you.?
-
To avoid throat irritation, administering the capsule whole followed by water and/or food is best. If your cat will not take the capsule, opening the capsule and administering with water can be a reasonable alternative. It is recommended to follow with at least 5 ml of water to avoid irritation of the esophagus. Using this technique should not affect the absorption of the drug. As always, review changes in drug administration with your veterinarian to ensure safe administration in your cat. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Can this be used for a human tooth infection??
-
Clindamycin is a prescription-only medication that does have an indication for use in humans and animals. Just as a veterinarian would prescribe this medication to a pet, a medical doctor or dentist would prescribe this medication to a human-patient based on a specific diagnosis, at a specific dose, on an individualized-patient basis; therefore it is important that no patient ever use any medication that is not prescribed directly to them. Is it okay to empty the capsule into my dog's food??
-
Jamie, Your suggestion to open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on food may be appropriate depending on the drug. If the drug is deemed appropriate to be opened and sprinkled, one consideration is that the animal must consume the entire food contents or the amount of drug given will be unclear. Clindamycin may cause irritation to the throat as well as having a bitter taste, so if capsules were to be emptied, allow access to plenty of water. Always review changes to drug administration with your pet's veterinarian. Thank you, VetRxDirect
