Great Medicine and Excellent Customer Service
From UndisclosedComments about Clavamox 15mL Drops, 62.5mg/mLWe purchased this for our cat, Oliver, because he was having some coughing issues along with eye gunk. Our vet suggested we try this medicine, and he didn't have any in stock. VetRxDirect not only had it, but the whole process was so quick and easy! They connected with my vet for the Rx very quickly in order to get the medicine out to our Oliver asap. The medicine helped get Ollie back to his normal self - eating, drinking, and acting regularly and no longer impaired. VetRxDirect's staff is friendly, quick, knowledgeable, and they really go the extra mile to make sure your pet is taken care of fast. -

I definitely will shop VetRx
From undisclosedComments about ClavamoxI will definitely will shop VetRx. However, with every retailer you have to do your homework and shop around. Most of the time the meds here are less expensive however I have found on occasion that may not be the case. The only other comment I will make is that often times I will need a med and they are out of stock and that is very inconvenient. I could order in advance however due to my dogs condition meds and frequency are constantly changing. Over all I come here first to shop. -

Q & A

can amoxicillin trihydrate for people be used in place of clavamox?
-
Clavamox is a combination of amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. The addition of clavulanate potassium reduces the resistance of bacteria to amoxicillin alone. Substituting amoxicillin in place of the prescribed Clavamox may not clear the infection and could lead to a more severe infection. Please discuss any concerns with Clavamox with your veterinarian prior to substituting amoxicillin to ensure the best outcomes for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Do I need a prescription for you, in order to purchase Clavamox?Thank you.?
-
Pat, Yes, Clavamox requires a prescription, as do all antibiotics. We can obtain the prescription in a couple different ways. Once an order is placed with us, we can fax over to your pet's veterinarian for approval on the prescription and the clinic can either fax it back or they can call and approve the prescription over the phone. Most clinics are willing to approve prescriptions in this way. If your pet's clinic does not authorize faxed prescriptions, they can also issue you a written prescription that can then be mailed to us. After we receive the prescription, we can process the order and ship it out. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I have left over Clavamox in my refrigerator. I know it says to throw away after 10 days. I was wondering why? Does it turn poisonous? Or does it lose its potency, or what?,.?
-
Patricia, Generally compounded or reconstituted suspensions (where water is added to powder e.g. Clavamox) have only been tested to know they are safe and effective up to a certain point such as 10 days for Clavamox. It is possible the active ingredient can lose its potency or reacts with other ingredients that may not be safe to take. It is best to always follow all directions, therefore discarding the product is the best option. Please contact your pet's veterinarian if treatment is still necessary. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is this mg tablet ok to give to a cat for a bacterial skin infection? This dose isn't too high... it was originally recommended for a sm dog. Just curious.?
-
Angie, Dosing is based on weight and may be different for both cats and dogs. Medication selection is also based on type of infection which can be properly diagnosed by your cat's veterinarian. It is difficult to say that the Clavamox tablets would be appropriate in respect to strength, medication selection, length of therapy, and severity of infection. We recommend a check up with your cat's veterinarian to ensure the best quality of care. Thank you, VetRxDirect
