Who rescued whom?
Cisapride (aka Propulsid) is life-saving medicine for GI care. We use this medicine twice daily for our young cat, Panda, with megacolon secondary to healed complex fractures of the pelvis with complex neurologic injury after being run over by a car as a young kitten. When we adopted him, we immediately and successfully started Cisapride courtesy of our vet, aiding his quality of life immeasurably. It is true: we may have adopted Panda, however, Panda rescued us and while he may be less than enthusiastic about the taste, he takes his medicine with little protest from his human "daddy" whom he adores.

Comes out of Suspension before it should
I purchased product the end of april...stored as directed, and shook as directed. After approx. 6 weeks, -producted had seperated to the point that there was a lump of it in the bottom of the bottle.
I can't recommend ordering over 6 weeks worth at a time, which may throw out the free shipping.

A huge megacolon helper
From UndisclosedComments about Cisapride Oral Suspension (Compounded) 2.5 mg/ml, Unflavored, per mLMy cat has megacolon and I read a lot of studies saying that this would help her. It definitely did. She went from needing a vet visit every 3 months to her usual once a year visit for shots. She hates the taste but she usually gets it down without major issues.-

Great Price, Easy to Order
From Corvallis, OregonComments about Cisapride Oral Suspension (Compounded) 10 mg/mL, Unflavored, per mLFor my kitties megacolon, keeps him regular and happy. I give it to him orally, with food, and he has no complaints. Along with some belly rubs for the gas, he has little problems in the litterbox. Would recommend to others who need a cheaper option. #sweepstakes -

Your prices are so much less expensive than other places, does that mean you buy the medications from countries other than the USA??
-
No, we buy all of our products from distributors in the United States. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is there a preservative used in this suspension? I ask because the current suspension I'm getting has to be refrigerated and this one does not. Can you list the ingredients for the unflavored cisapride suspension 10mg/mL strength??
-
VetRxDirect uses corn oil as the base in the cisapride unflavored suspension. A suspending agent is added to the corn oil to aid in accurate dosing after the bottle is shaken thoroughly immediately prior to administration. The absence of water in the oil based suspension allows the product to be stored at room temperature without added preservatives. Thank you, VetRxDirect

if cisapride liquid gets clumpy and won't shake out is it safe to use??
-
We would not recommend using this product if it does not shake up to a consistent, uniform suspension. A suspension that does not shake up completely may lead to inconsistent dosing for your pet. The product needs to be shaken vigorously and examined for uniformity prior to drawing the dose each time the medication is given. If you are unsure how long this product has been clumpy and would not shake out completely, we would recommend reordering this product to provide your pet with the most consistent dosing and best possible outcomes. Please consult VetRxDirect if you have further questions on your cisapride suspension. Thank you, VetRxDirect

can you tell me which flavor the cats like the best...which flavor do you sell the most, thanks?

Roxanne, It varies with every pet but fish is probably the most popular. The chicken flavor can be bitter sometimes for cats. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Our cat has been getting a 2.5 mg cisapride capsule twice a day. What is the equivalent dosage in the liquid form??
-
Gina, The cisapride compounded suspension is also available in a 2.5mg dose per mL. This would be the equivalent to the 2.5mg capsules when one mL is given. Thank you, VetRxDirect

It is recommended to use this within 90 days. Is that extended if refrigerated? Thanks?
-
Patrick, We assign a beyond-use-date or expiration date of 90 days after compounding to the cisapride suspensions prepared in an oil base. There is no way to guarantee the medication will last longer or gain an extended expiration date if refrigerated. We cannot recommend using the medication beyond the assigned expiration date after compounding. Thank you, VetRxDirect
