How many days does this last?
-
How many days the Advair inhaler will last depends on the dosage instructions given by your veterinarian. The inhaler chamber contains 120 metered actuations or "puffs" of the medication. For example: If your pet received 1 puff of this medication twice daily, the inhaler would last for 60 days.

Where can I find the dosage for feline asthma treatment??
-
The resources available to you regarding the use of Advair will be in relation to human-labeled dosing rather than feline dosing as well prescriber preference through experience. Typically, it is recommended to begin with a low dose and titrate up depending on symptom severity. The dose may then be adjusted based on tolerability and effectiveness. However, an appropriate initial dose will be determined by your pet's veterinarian with consideration to a number of parameters such as the past medical history and severity of disease. Please follow-up with your pet's veterinarian to obtain a prescription that will suit your pet's personal needs. Thank you, VetRxDirect

what is the common dosage of flovent for canines with pulmonary interstitial eosinophilia?
-
Flovent contains fluticasone, an inhaled corticosteroid, that decreases inflammation in the lungs. Advair also contains fluticasone, as well as another medication, salmeterol; which is used to open airways (bronchodilator). Typically, pulmonary interstitial eosinophilia is treated with inhaled corticosteroids such as fluticasone or oral corticosteroids such as prednisolone or prednisone. Some veterinarians may also add on bronchodilators like salmeterol and/or use antibiotics. Flovent comes in 44 mcg, 110 mcg, and 220 mcg strength metered-dose inhalers. The dose used is based upon your pet’s history of side-effects with oral steroids and severity of disease. The number of inhalations per day may also vary and a aerochamber (e.g. AeroDawg) is usually prescribed to enhance delivery of the medication(s) to your pet. The common starting dose for (PIE) in canines varies from 220mcg twice daily to 440mcg twice daily. Your pet’s veterinarian would be able to determine the most appropriate dose and the best treatment regimen for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

asked prior with no response. currently using flovent, if switching to adviar is there any wait time before starting adviar? or, can I start using it as soon as I receive it??
-
There is no defined dose for Advair use in cats. Finding the lowest dose and frequency to provide long term symptom control is what will define the strength of Advair. Advair is a combination of fluticasone and salmeterol. Flovent contains the single drug, fluticasone. There should be no reason to wait before starting the Advair. Your veterinarian will be able to offer the best advice and experience when deciding on the proper dose and frequency of use for the Advair. Thank you, VetRxDirect
