Vetropolycin (neomycin/ bacitracin/ polymyxin) Veterinary Ophthalmic Ointment for Dogs and Cats
Vetropolycin is an eye (ophthalmic) ointment prescribed for dogs and cats with bacterial infections in their eyelids and eyes. Vetropolycin contains three antibiotics: bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin. Vetropolycin is also available with added hydrocortisone, a steroid to reduce itching, redness, and inflammation.
- Prescription medication
- Contains three antibiotics: bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin
- Wash your hands before and after applying Vetropolycin
- Don't touch the bottle of Vetropolycin to your pet’s eye at any time
Cautions: Some pets may be allergic to a component in Vetropolycin and may experience swelling, itching, and burning. Discontinue using Vetropolycin if this occurs. Long term use of Vetropolycin can cause fungal infections in your pet’s eyes.
Warning: Resistance is a major concern when giving antibiotics. To help avoid any resistance, it is important to give antibiotics as they are prescribed for as long as they are prescribed even if your pet is looking and feeling better, unless directed by your veterinarian.

Good Medication for Dry Eye
From UndisclosedComments about VetropolycinOur Cavapoo was born with congential dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca) and is on a multitude of medications to keep the eye lubricated. Since he makes no tears at all (0 mm), he depends on us to do it for him. Our pet ophthalmologist prescribed Vetropolycin to help with this. It contains antibacterials/antibiotics (Bacitracin Zinc, Neomycin Sulfate, and Polymyxin B Sulfate) in a base of white petrolatum and mineral oil which all help to keep the eye very lubricated and healthy. We go through the tubes very quickly, so we buy in bulk. We have found that Vet Rx Direct has the best price for this medication. -
Will not buy again.
