Hard to Find Online
From Chicago ILComments about Vetivex (Hartmann's Solution)My 18 year old cat needs these fluids daily and VetRX Direct is the only place I can get them online. They are cheaper here than at my vet. It would be nice if we could use a different type of fluid as this is hard to find.
Q & A

How do I start an IV? I was using the bag with one hole in which I pushed the line set into that one hole. I can't get the tip off either hole of this bag to insert the line set.?

To start, pop the tab off of either port. Take an alcohol swab and wipe opening. Ensure that roller clamp near the bottom of the line is closed. Then insert the spike into the hole. This may take some force to effectively puncture the port. Squeeze the drip chamber and fill to the line or level indicator. To prime the line, open the roller clamp. Let the fluids run through until all air bubbles are gone. Close the roller clamp. For needle attachment, there are two types. For a lock luer, remove the cap on the needle hub and screw on the needle. For a slip luer, remove the cap on the needle hub and slip the needle onto the tip. Squeeze and release flashback bulb to confirm liquid is flowing. Detach needle shield to reveal needle. Note, once the shield is removed the needle will be exposed. Be cautious of an accidental needlestick. Once the needle is inserted into the animal, flow can begin. Adjust flow with roller clamp. Please contact your veterinarian with any additional questions or concerns regarding the use of this product.
