What are Ursodiol Capsules for Dogs and Cats?

  • Ursodiol is a prescription medication that contains the naturally occurring bile acid, Ursodeoxycholic Acid.
  • Ursodiol works by dissolving cholesterol, preventing cholesterol absorption in the intestines, and preventing the production of cholesterol in the liver. This decreases the formation of gallstones.
  • Ursodiol also helps reduce excess levels of bile acids that may be harmful to the liver.
