good way to medicate our crabby cat
Our oldest and crankiest cat, Max, needs supplemental potassium. He's a master at avoiding a pill or a powder, and I didn't relish the idea of World War III twice a day with him. Our vet knows the problems with Max and suggested the gel form. Brilliant!! We just mix it in with a dab of wet food and he snarfs it down. I tell him it's the gravy. He can use to gain a little weight and we feed dry food so the wet food isn't an issue.
We LOVE the service from vetrxdirect - and the herd (7, all black & all indoor-only) loves the treats that come with our orders. vetrxdirect treats us like they really want our business, which will make me a loyal customer.

I hate this stuff - but it works
This has got to be the worst delivery system of any med I have had to give my cat. It is goopey, greasy, and she hates it. I would much rather give her a pill. Plus, the tube it comes in is one of those old, metal toothpaste tubes that you have to squeeze and roll up from the bottom. I have to squeeze the gel into a large oral syringe and then "inject" doses into a smaller oral syringe to give it to my cat. Doing it this way does make it easy to adjust the dose, but I am not sure that is ever necessary. But it does work. My cat has had chronic hypokalaemia and is finally getting low normal readings in her blood work.

Gel does not pass the feline taste test
From Seattle, WA, USAComments about Tumil-K (potassium gluconate)Neither of my cats will touch this gel or any food with the gel on or in it. From now on I will stick with the Renal K powder, which is essentially the same product but does not require a prescription.

Hi Our was recently prescribed the 5oz Tumil K Gel we've been following the instruction the last three days every 12hrs each time becoming more difficult, to administer any tips ? . Now she's hardly eating at all. Do we increase the dosage ??
-
Tumil-K can be given by mouth or placed on food to administer. It’s important not to increase the dose unless directed. If your pet’s appetite and thirst has lessened in the past few days or if your pet isn’t getting the full dose we recommend contacting your pet's veterinarian. Thank you, VetRxDirect
