is it okay if my cat gets a little in her mouth when licking?

TrizChlor4 is a series of medicated topicals that contain chlorhexidine and TrizEDTA to help reduce bacteria on the skin. According to the manufacturer, there are no known side effects of these products. They recommend rinsing the shampoo off completely after using it on your cat. The spray conditioner and mousse are leave-in products. If you have any concerns about your cat ingesting these products, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

Is it safe for fairly long term use (the wipes), considering that it contains a corticosteroid? Not sure if that is okay for long term usage??
-
The TrizChlor 4 wipes do not contain a steroid. The main active ingredients for the TrizChlor 4 topical products, including the wipes, are chlorhexidine gluconate and TrizEDTA. Of these ingredients, the long term use of chlorhexidine may impair wound healing, particularly on skin lesions that are actively healing. The TrizChlor 4HC shampoo and spray conditioner do contain 1% Hydrocortisone, a topical corticosteroid. At this time, the manufacturer of TrizChlor, does not offer the wipes in the HC formulation. According to Plumb’s Veterinary Drug Handbook, hydrocortisone is considered a low potency topical corticosteroid, and is indicated for relatively short durations of use. Under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian, longer term use of topical products containing hydrocortisone may be recommended with a proper monitoring schedule. Long-term, frequent use of topical hydrocortisone can cause suppression to functions of the pituitary and adrenal glands. Please contact your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication in your pet.

My vet prescribed the Trizchlor 4 Spray Conditioner for bacterial dermatitis. When I spray it on my dog, the entire fur area dries to a gummy stiff mess that can only be removed by a bath. Can I dilute it? Can you suggest any better way to apply it? It's not usable this way.?
-
When administering, part the hair and spray directly on affected skin. Brushing hair after administration may be helpful. Diluting is not recommended as the main ingredient chlorhexidine will not work as well. If your dog needs administration to large areas of the body or the conditioner is not preferred, the Trizchlor 4 shampoo is an effective alternative. However, when using Trizchlor 4 shampoo, make sure the shampoo sits for at least 10 minutes before rinsing for maximum effectiveness.

My vet recommended Trizchlor4 mousse. I don't like the perfume smell in it. Does the shampoo also smell like that? I've been using the Miconahex&Triz shampoo and sprays which don't have so much perfume.?
-
Trizchlor4 Mousse and TrizChlor shampoo are both produced by the same manufacturer and contains the same fragrance. Please contact your veterinarian to determine if these products are appropriate for your cat or dog.

Can this be used to clean a dogs ear??
-
The active ingredients of TrizChlor are Chlorhexidine Gluconate and TrizEDTA. Chlorhexidine has activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and fungi, however TrizChlor Flush should only be used as an adjunct when treating an active ear infection. Chlorhexidine containing products should be used cautiously in ear canals with ruptured tympanic membranes because of potential for ototoxicity. Tris-EDTA is non-ototoxic and safe to use in the middle ear. TrizChlor Flush can be used as a general ear cleansing agent or aid in the removal of debris from the ear canal prior to treatment with antibiotic/antifungal drops. Keeping the ears clean is an important step in helping to reduce the incidence of ear infection. It is important to check with your veterinarian prior to using TrizChlor Flush to clean the ears. Contact your veterinarian if the ears become red or inflamed at any time during the course of cleaning. Thank you, VetRxDirect
