I'm so glad I can get this compounded
From UndisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)I give this to my beagle with cushings. I love that I can get it in a dosage in between the amount of the pills because she needed to go up in her dose but I didn't want to increase it too much and her vet agreed. -
Great choices for dosage amounts
From UndisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)Fabulous to have 1 pill for the correct dosage (I was having to cut a capsule in half before!) Bravo -

Compounded
From UndisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)My vet was worried about going to a compounded prescription compared to a manufactured brand-name prescription did the test results and my dogs results are fantastic same results that she would've got with namebrand I saved about 50% -
I would buy this product again
From UndisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)Just started these this past month for pup that was diagnosed with Cushings Disease. Half the price of what the vet was charging me, so thank you all for that! -
Good for Cushings
From UndisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)Our dog has Cushings so, she needs to take this medication. Unfortunately, we had to up the dose because her markers increased with the last bloodwork. But, it does work great, just wish we didn't have to increase the dosage. VERY quick ship from VetRXDirect. -
I would but it again and from VetRX Direct.
From undisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)This is for my dog with Cushings Disease. It has helped him tremendously. -
Great to be able to get pet medication in tailor made doses
From undisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)We need Trilostane for our dog, but in 15 mg doses. The normal doses are 10, 30, and 60 mg. It is really great to have a company that can provide capsules in the doses required even if they are not "standard" doses. In all other respects VetRxDirect works just as smoothly as any online pet pharmacy. -
I would buy this product again and again from VetRxDirect!
From undisclosedComments about Trilostane (Compounded)Thank God for Trilostane. It is a magic bullet that has saved the life of our dog Tilly, who has Cushings desease. And, Thank God for VetRxDirect who supplies this in all compounded sizes at a very low cost. The other mail order pharmacies only provide standard sizes and this becomes very expensive if you have to mix these sizes together. VetRxDirects is the lowest cost I've found, and they get it to me quickly! If your dog has Cushings then VetRxDirect has you covered!-

If I have a written prescription from my vet can I fax it to you or does it need to be mailed??
-
Sherry, Pharmacy law requires that we have the original prescription that the veterinarian issued to you, which means, legally, the prescription would need to be mailed to us. A scan or a fax of a written prescription is considered a copy and pharmacies are not legally able to accept them. We can accept faxes directly from clinics, but it is up to each clinic whether or not they are willing to fax a prescription directly to us. You may want to check with your clinic. Many clinics will be unwilling to fax if they have already issued a written prescription, in which case, they may require you to return the prescription to them. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I have a whippet (26lb). At what level of trilostane is to much? My vet been upper her level to 150mg. It's costing me $250 plus blood work for another $250 a month.?
-
Selina, For your dog with the weight of 26 pounds (11.8 kg), the standard dose is 60 mg every 24 hours and may be adjusted based on cortisol levels (taken from blood work). If your dog is being treated for alopecia, the dose might be upwards to 150 mg. Please discuss your questions and concerns with your veterinarian to determine the problem being treated as well as why the dose continues to increase. Thank you, VetRxDirect

What are the pros and cons of the suspension vs. the capsule form of trilostane? I believe that the capsule (powdered) form has a slightly longer shelf life, but are there other differences? Thank you.?
-
Matt, You are correct that the capsules are good for 6 months and the suspension is good for 3 months. The capsules are already dosed out whereas the beef flavored suspension has to be measured from the bottle for each dose. The capsule, however, should not be opened and might make it harder for the animal to take versus the suspension. There are pros and cons of both, so it is important to discuss with your veterinarian which option might be better for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect
