Drops work wonders!!
From UndisclosedComments about Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution 0.3%, 5mL BottleThese eye drops work wonders for my dog. She has severe environmental allergies and occasionally her left eye acts up, gets yucky and has a thick mucus like substance. Her eye also gets bloodshot from the irritation of the mucus. When I use these drops, they help to push out the mucus from her eye and reduce the bloodshot appearance. Within a few days, the mucus stops in her eye. I've been using these drops for years because they work so well for my baby girl. -

This pharmacy deserves koudos.
From UndisclosedComments about Tobramycin Ophthalmic SolutionI found Sebastian walking down the street a while ago. His skin was so damaged with fungus, and he had a chronic ear infection. My Love and consistent care have brought relief to his skin health, and his infection is under control, even though he's not able to listen well. Dermalone ointment and Tobramycin have been my right hand on the process. I've not found any pharmacy with such competitive pricing on these two items and fast service as VetRxDirect. -

Can I rinse with water when side effect red eyes are severe?
-
It is not recommended to rinse out medicated eye drops like tobramycin ophthalmic solution after administration as you may dilute or rinse away the medication from the eye reducing its effectiveness. Please consult your veterinarian if you find that the medication is not well tolerated.

Is this for humans also?
-
Tobramycin Ophthalmic is a prescription medication used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, eyelids, or conjunctiva. How does one lessen the stinginess of tobramycin eye drops for cats? Thanks?
-
Tobramycin Ophthalmic eye drops commonly cause mild burning, stinging, irritation or redness of the eye. It may take some time for your cat's eye to become less sensitive to the medication. However, it is recommended that if any of these signs/symptoms are severe, worsen or continue to be a problem that you should contact your veterinarian. They will be able to provide administration tips and/or determine if an alternative product is needed based on your cat’s health and symptoms.

Is this tobramycin alone or does it also contain a steroid like dexamethasone??
-
This particular product contains only tobramycin, which is used to treat bacterial infections. Dexamethasone is a steroid that can be used to treat symptoms of inflammation such as redness, irritation, and/or itching. The tobramycin and dexamethasone ophthalmic suspension can be found by clicking this link: https://www.vetrxdirect.com/product/view/tobramycin-and-dexamethasone-eye-drops-dogs-and-cats-rx/variation-11280. It is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian, who is the best source of information regarding medical conditions. Your veterinarian can also recommend which product would be the most appropriate treatment.

I was prescribed this by my vet for an eye infection on my dog. His eye looks better, then when we put the drops in his third eye comes back out and he gets squinty again. Is this a normal reaction and are we safe to keep using it??
-
According to Plumb’s Veterinary Drug Handbook, tobramycin ophthalmic solution may cause burning, stinging, irritation, or redness of the eye. If your dog’s third eyelid continues to be visible, consult your veterinarian as this may be a sign of a developing or worsening condition.

Hi. My cat had a red, swollen, itchy right eye all of sudden and ER vet prescribed this. Recommendation is 2-3 drops every 12 hours for 10 days. My cat first had an eye issue on Saturday and in 5 days, it's clearly healed and normal. The vet clinic I went was notoriously bad reputation in town and I didn't know that so I feel like I don't want to trust a vet advice. In general, is it okay to not follow 10 days? During an application, he needs to wear a cone on for 24 hours and once his eye healed, he strongly refuses to wear a cone. Is it okay to give 7 days not 10 days prescribed? Is it giving a big problem to shorten 3 days of advice? Also is it okay if cat touches his eye after drying? If I have to follow 10 days, I just want to apply it and keep his cone on until it is dried then keep cone off.?
-
It is recommended that you always follow the veterinarian’s dosing, especially with antibiotics. When treating a bacterial infection, antibiotic dosing will often go a few days beyond the pet returning to “normal” to ensure that the infection will not return. If you stop the medication too soon, you run the risk of the bacteria returning, and possibly stronger than before. If you have additional questions regarding this medication, please reach out to your veterinarian.

My cat has been prescribed these eye drops by our vet. They are definitely clearing up her watery/ gunky eye. A drop accidentally rolled down her face and it got into her mouth. Should I be concerned? Are these drops toxic for cats if ingested? Thank you in advance!?
-
When used as an eye medication overdoses are unlikely, but side effects or toxic effects could occur if your animal eats the medication. According to Plumb’s Veterinary Drug Handbook, side effects that usually are not serious include mild burning, stinging, irritation, or redness of the eyes. Side effects that may be serious or indicate a serious problem may include difficulty breathing or swelling of the throat, which may indicate a severe allergic reaction to this drug. If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately. If any residue is left on your animal’s face after giving the eye drops, gently wipe it off with a damp cloth or tissue.

My GSD has developed very minimal conjunctivitis. Simply just eye drainage, not scratching or holding it close. Is it safe to give him these drops to treat it at this stage? If this is plasma cell conjunctivitis, is this a good course of treatment??

What happens if I accidentally put more than 2 drops into the eye? my dog sometimes moves while im squeezing the bottle, and I worry that I got 3 or 4 in his eye.?
-
Ophthalmic solutions are difficult to overdose on because of the size of the dog’s eye. The eye can only hold a few drops at a time. The manufacturer notes that the signs of an overdose can be redness, lid itching, increased flow of tears, and inflammation. If you suspect an overdose, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

My dog got some in mouth due to him being Stubborn and trying to let us put it in his eyes. Will he be okay??
-
Aminoglycoside antibiotics, such as tobramycin, have minimal oral absorption when taken by mouth. Unless your dog is hypersensitive or allergic to tobramycin or other aminoglycoside antibiotics, there is unlikely to be harm from a small amount of the ophthalmic solution inadvertently getting into the dog's mouth. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication in your dog.
