Soloxine (Levothyroxine) Rx
Soloxine (levothyroxine) Tablets for Hypothyroidism in dogs
Dogs with low thyroid levels can benefit from Soloxine (levothyroxine), a prescription medication which helps produce the thyroid hormone and regulate normal body function.
- Treats hypothyroidism in dogs
- Helps improve health and well-being
- Nine different dosages available
- Small pills are easy to administer
When your dog doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone, she can develop hypothyroidism. The condition commonly causes hair loss, skin irritation, weight gain, and lethargy among other things. If your dog has low thyroid levels, talk to your veterinarian about prescription Soloxine (levothyroxine), a replacement for the hormone that is naturally produced by the thyroid gland. This medication regulates the body and metabolism so your dog feels better. Soloxine is FDA-approved for use in dogs but is sometimes prescribed for cats. The small pill size makes dosing easy. Hello, my Sheltie might have to be on Levothyroxine, is Interceptor hw preventative, safe to take with it? Just making sure of no interactions and how many hours apart? Also does it have to be on an empty stomach for Levothyroxine to work? Thank You, Linda?
-
Levothyroxine interacts with many medications, including minerals and multivitamins. There is no documented drug-drug interactions between levothyroxine and Interceptor. Levothyroxine may be given with or without food, but it is important to administer the same way every day. Thank you, VetRxDirect

When do you expect to have the 0.8mg pill in stock??
-
The manufacturer is not producing products right now so we are unsure of when that will be available again. We do have a couple other products that are substitutable though in the mean time. Thryrovet and Thryrokare are both levothyroxine tablets, the same as Soloxine. Thank you, VetRxDirect

The Soloxine tablet is manufactured in a manner that does allow the tablet to be split. When splitting tablets, it is recommended to use a pill splitting device to ensure that the tablet is split cleanly and evenly to ensure the appropriate dose is administered. It is recommended to contact your veterinarian to determine if he or she feels splitting tablets to obtain the appropriate dosage for your dog is acceptable. Thank you, VetRxDirect

When will Soloxine 0.2mg be available? Do you know where else I can get this??
-
Right now, many different strengths of levothyroxine are becoming back-ordered from the manufacturers. We do still have the 0.2mg in two other brands, ThyroVet and ThyroKare, which are also levothyroxine like the Soloxine. You may want to talk to your pet's veterinarian about switching brands if you're unable to find the Soloxine. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Soloxine is a brand name for levothyroxine sodium (which is the drug name). There are several brands of levothyroxine and your poodle's veterinarian will help you decide which brand is right for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My vet sells these to us for our dog. Do I need to get a prescription from them and show it to you so I can buy these from you??
-
Albert, Yes, Soloxine is a prescription medication. We can obtain approval from your dog's veterinarian in a couple of different ways - once an order is placed, we can fax your veterinarian for approval and they can fax back with the doctor's signature and the directions for use (by far the most common and the fastest method), or once we fax the clinic can call and verbally approve a prescription (some clinics prefer this method). We can also accept prescriptions written by the veterinarian that you can then mail to us, with your current order number written on the outside of the envelope. Thank you, VetRxDirect
