What is Revolution for Dogs?
- Revolution is a prescription topical heartworm preventative and parasiticide medication for dogs.
- Revolution contains Selamectin to protect dogs against fleas, American dog ticks, heartworm, sarcoptic mange, and ear mites for one month.
Why is Revolution used for dogs?
- Revolution is a prescription, topical heartworm preventive.
- Revolution kills adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching for one month, and is indicated for the prevention and control of flea infestations.
- In dogs, Revolution also treats and controls ear mites, sarcoptic mange, and American dog tick infestations.
What else should I know about Revolution?
- Revolution is for topical treatment in dogs six weeks of age and older.
- Bathing or shampooing the dog 2 or more hours after treatment will not reduce the effectiveness of Revolution against fleas or heartworm.
- The American Heartworm Society and most veterinarians recommend an annual heartworm test before prescribing a heartworm preventative for your dog or cat. Dogs with existing heartworm infections can have serious reactions after taking this.
- Revolution is sold as a prescription drug in a maximum of a 12-month supply per dog per year.
- To buy the same size for more than one dog, add what you need to the cart. You can split the amount among different dogs at the checkout!
- Wash your hands after use and wash off any product in contact with the skin immediately with soap and water.
What problems could my dog have with Revolution?
- Stiff hair, clumping of hair, hair discoloration, or a slight powdery residue may be observed at the treatment site in some animals. These effects are temporary and do not affect the safety or effectiveness of the product.
- Rare side effects of Revolution that usually are not serious may include skin irritation or loss of hair at the site of application.
- Rare side effects that may be serious or indicate a serious problem may include depression lack of energy or weakness, stumbling or collapse, dilated pupils, excessive drooling, seizures or coma. If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.
How do you use Revolution?
- Apply to the skin as directed by your veterinarian.
- Firmly press the cap down to puncture the seal on the Revolution tube; a clicking sound will confirm that the cap has successfully punctured the seal. Remove the cap and check to ensure that the tip of the tube is open.
- To administer the product, part the hair on the back of the animal at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube 3 or 4 times to empty its entire contents directly onto the skin in one spot until empty.
- Check the tube to ensure that it is empty. Do not massage the product into the skin.
- Due to alcohol content, do not apply to broken skin.
- Avoid contact between the product and fingers.
- Do not apply when the haircoat is wet.
What is in Revolution?
Revolution contains selamectin, a topical parasiticide effective against fleas, ear mites, ticks, sarcoptic mange mites, and heartworm disease in dogs.

$$$$$$ SAVED using VetRX Direct
From Aurora, OH, USAComments about Revolution (selamectin) for DogsWhen The vet told me that both my cats had fleas mid winter in Ohio I was shocked. They both recieved a monthly dose of Revalution and I was to continuemonthly advised by that they should continue at least for the next 3 - 6 months. When I checked out I was advisted the monthly cost per application as well as the 3 month supply....... my second shock! I took to the internet and came across Vet RX Direct's website. As I started to make my puchase I realized that I needed script to purchase so I contacted my Vet an to my surprise they told my what information I needed and advised the Vet RX would contact them for the script. All this was a very pleasant surprise. I placed my order. On the lower dose it was as if I am getting 2 free months for the price of 1 dose at the Veterinary's Office. The higher dose, works out to almost 2 months free. On a finacial side, I do not think I would have been able to keep both my cats on the Revalution if it weren't for VetRX Direct $$ savings. Very quick delivery, proucts was shipped & received only days after I placed my order. Thank you VetRX Direct. -

Q & A

How long do I wait to give meds again??
-
The frequency of administering Revolution for cats depends on what it is being used for. For heartworm prevention and flea control, apply topically each month. If you're treating ear mites, apply topically once and then repeat application one month later if necessary. For hookworms and roundworms, apply topically once. If your cat has ancylostoma ceylanicum, apply topically once. For cheyletiellosis, apply topically once a month for a total of 3 treatments. For biting lice and notoedric mange, apply topically once. Please consult your veterinarian with any further questions and dosing directions specific to your pet.

I put revolution on my cat 7 days early by mistake. Will it hurt her??
-
It is recommended to contact your veterinarian if you administer more than the prescribed dose. Safety studies have shown Revolution is safe in cats up to 10 times the recommended dose. If your cat is not experiencing any side effects such as hair loss, vomiting, salivation, or muscle tremors, it is most likely safe to resume your cat's normal dosing regimen.
