I had previously given my kitty Azodyl for her kidney disease, which she immediately detected in the small amount of food it was given in. I do not want to pill her daily so the vet recommended that I open the pill and mix the powder in a small amount of her food. It is not as effective as pilling but I do not want my cat to be afraid of me every time I see her. Unfortunately she did not eat any food with the Azodyl discreetly mixed into it. But fortunately I had come across another vet who had recommended this RenAvast and now my kitty eats most of her food with the contents of this pill. She must have a good sniffer because she does detect it somewhat. All I know is that she is taking her medication (RenAvast) along with 2 other homeopathic medications my vet sent me for her kidney disease and my Nefertiti is happily taking her meds!!! I have not had her long enough on the meds yet to update her blood work but am anxious to see what her numbers look like in August.

Jury Still Out
I have not made my mind up on this product yet. It states for 10 pounds or less cat to give one capsule twice a day. My cat is 7 pounds. I did that for over a month, did not notice a great deal of difference overall, until it appeared it was making him a bit sick to his stomach. So I tried once a day and that seems to work better. That was my choice, however, and I would not tell others to go by anything other than what directions say.
I would hope this product does what it claims, but at this point, I am in wait and see mode. My vet said the same, not enough info and time to tell about it yet.

The research conducted by the manufacturer of Renavast discusses a two year clinical trial done only in cats. How does RenAvast help prevent kidney disease??

RenAvast contains a mixture of amino acids and peptides, which are used to create proteins. In kidney disease, processing proteins from the diet is difficult and other forms of protein may be limited. While the exact mechanism of action is unclear, according to the manufacturers website, RenAvast aids in supporting cells in the kidneys, helps increase hormones that aid in kidney tissue repair and may help improve kidney filtration rate. RenAvast may also work to help decrease the breakdown of proteins. In addition, RenAvast helps maintain normal kidney blood pressure and blood flow. Unfortunately with supplements there is a lack of clinical information available regarding supplement interactions. The manufacturer of Renavast states there are no adverse effects reported with Renavast and this supplement is comprised of amino acids. RenAvast contains a blend of amino acids and peptides including L-Aspartic acid, L-carnosine, L-Glutamic acid, L-glutamine, Glycine, L-Arginine, and L-Histidine. Amino acids are building blocks for protein. In kidney disease, protein waste products cannot be processed appropriately and often protein in diet is limited. “Kidney Support Gold” appears to include a blend of herbal medications thought to help with energy and immune function, such as cordyceps mycelium (a type of mushroom), rehmannia root, dong quai root, and astragalus root. Herbal medications can have side effects and drug interactions just as prescription medications and should be used cautiously. My cat has kidney failure with levels off the chart. We've gotten her on the right track, but still having issues with anemia. Does the RenAvast had any success with that??
