WISH IT WAS MORE EFFECTIVE
From Queens, NYComments about ProAir HFA (albuterol sulfate) InhalerUnknown to me, my poor Cat suffered with asthma for quite awhile and I just started giving him the abuterol 90mg per my Vet's recommendations. It seemed to work in the beginning & reduced the frequency but now I have to pump twice into the areokat for him to get any good results. I don't like giving it to him everyday as advised but only when he has bad episodes which isn't everyday so it's worked for me. I like the fact that it has the counter on the back so you can see how many pumps has left. It is easy to use with no difficulty dispensing into the inhaler. I just didn't give it a high rating due to the effectiveness of device. It doesn't prevent just controls and it's quite expensive. -
Would continue doing business with them!

Hello, my 2 year old Siberian Husky has "undiagnosed" Asthma or Cronin Bronchitis/Severe allergies. his Last Vet had him on Flovent hfa it works completely eliminates his symptoms even when I tapered him down to Just once a day rather than twice he was still 100% even once he was completely off it his symptoms stayed away until something triggers him to start Cough and Wheezing again.. any How I asked a New Vet if Proair hfa was safe for dogs? as I had no Idea but wanted to know because a family member uses this for their Asthma and Said its much Cheaper than Flovent well the Vet told me yes you can try. my question to you is out of the 2 what one is Safer? for Long term use.? my Dog is so Young is this Ruff on other Organs over Time.? I'm Trying my Best to keep his condition under control with as Little Long Term side affects as Possible. sorry if this Question is confusing any Advice will Help thank you... Allen?

How is this product different from Flixotide Inhaler 125 mcg.?
-
ProAir HFA is an inhaler containing albuterol which is a short acting beta2-agonist while Flixotide is an inhaler containing a corticosteroid known as fluticasone propionate. Usually inhalers like ProAir are used on as needed basis when reacting to a respiratory exacerbation, while inhalers like Flixotide are used on a scheduled basis to prevent respiratory exacerbations. These two drugs, with different mechanisms of action can be used in combination if needed to treat airway disease.

Can this be used on Parrots as well?
-
ProAir HFA is a short acting bronchodilator medication that is most often used for patients that are having trouble breathing. This medication can be used for parrots, but some veterinarians may choose to treat your parrot with a different medication. If your parrot is having difficulty breathing, be sure to contact your veterinarian regarding treatment for your pet. ProAir may be an acceptable treatment, but your veterinarian will determine the underlying cause of the difficult breathing and recommend the best course of action for your parrot. Can cats use Ventolin HFA (albuterol sulfate) 90 mcg my vet tells me no I need help for her but can't aford the high cost of other like $200.00 when this cost $53.89?
-
Mali, Ventolin HFA and Proair HFA inhalers both contain the same active ingredient, albuterol sulfate, and are commonly prescribed for cats. However, these medications differ by the inactive ingredients that they contain which may be the reason for your veterinarian’s concern. Please consult your veterinarian regarding switching or starting any new medications in your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Community Answer -
ProAir HFA (albuterol sulfate) 90mcg is a prescription medication intended for individual use and should only be used as directed by a licensed physician, or veterinarian. ProAir may be used in both human and in veterinary medicine for the treatment of asthma; however, the dosage of ProAir for asthma in veterinary medicine can differ from the dosage that is prescribed for human use. Pet’s also require an aerochamber or spacer to ease administration. You should follow-up with your pet’s veterinarian to help you determine what dose is best for your pet and what spacer/aerochamber and mask are needed. The veterinarian can also help you decide if other albuterol containing inhalers are an option, such as Ventolin HFA, or if additional medications are needed for the asthma (e.g., inhaled corticosteroids). I bought my dog Arnold this product 2months ago . I am wondering if I can use it for my asthma this morning . Help !?
-
Marie, You should never use medications that have not been prescribed for you. Many medications used in veterinary pharmacy are human medications, but we do not dispense for human use. You should consult your own physician for the appropriate medication for your asthma. Thank you, VetRxDirect
