Yorkshire Terrier has calcium oxalate bladder stones (already had surgery once). His current PH is 5. Will this product raise of lower his PH? I thought it would raise his PH, which is what I have been told I want, but your description on this site says "Potassium Citrate is often given to LOWER urine ph in dogs and cats to prevent and reduce urinary stones". Is this correct? I am confused. Vet gave it to me to RAISE ph, not lower it. Please advise.?

This product is used to raise urinary pH to decrease the formation of calcium oxalate stones. This webpage in particular recently was corrected to say this. Previously, the product description mistakenly listed it as lowering pH, which was incorrect.

My 12 year old Shih-tsu is taking this twice a day. Sometimes he won't eat much in the morning so he might finish his dose at lunch time. I have to mix it with food so he will consume it. Is it safe to give him his second full dose at around 6:00 in the evening or is that too close to his first dose??
