What are Pimobendan Compounded Mini-Med Tablets for Dogs and Cats by Epicur?
- Pimobendan is a prescription medication used to treat congestive heart failure in dogs and certain cardiovascular conditions in cats.
Why is Pimobendan used for Dogs and Cats?
- Pimobendan helps the heart contract (pump) more effectively, and it dilates blood vessels, which reduces the amount of pressure the heart needs to pump blood.
- Pimobendan is used for the treatment of congestive heart failure in dogs caused by either a bad heart valve (myxomatous mitral valve disease) or a weak heart muscle (dilated cardiomyopathy).
- Pimobendan may be prescribed for extra-label use in cats with dilated cardiomyopathy or other medical conditions as a veterinarian determines.
- Pimobendan may also be prescribed in combination with other medications for congestive heart failure treatment.
What else should I know about Pimobendan Mini-Med Tablets?
- Pimobendan Compounded Mini-Med Tablets are scored to make it easier to split them in half. Quartering the tablets is not recommended.
- Mini-Med tablets are unflavored.
- Store at room temperature in the original child and light-resistant prescription bottle.
What problems could my dog or cat have with Pimobendan?
- The most common Pimobendan side effects are gastrointestinal effects, including poor appetite and diarrhea.

Critical heart medication
Been having to pick up crucial medication for my dog at the vet. Something's they were out or only had a couple left. Very stressful as my pup is 16 and has cardiomyopathy. Ordering from Vey Rx direct has relived this anxiety and can also get the right dose without have to break of 1/6 of a pill from the large dose my vet carries

On the fence about what you can offer
I'm happy that you can offer small pills, as my dog wants nothing to do with the chewable ones. When I ordered, it came within 2 days. The only thing I don't like is that the cost is double what I was paying at my last vet office. My current vet doesn't offer the small pills. Same dosage, not sure why it should cost another $30 to get small pills of the same prescription.

If my vet. Prescribed half of a 5 mg tab 2x day or every 12 hours.. can I get the 2.5 mg so I don't have to cut them or would I have to get a new prescription from my vet.?

Shelf life of compounded medication??

I am looking for a 1.25 tablet, but it must be epicure brand as my dog has had reactions to two other compounded brands. I am to give one and a half tablets. Does this compounded brand come in 1.875. How do I know that I would be guaranteed the epicure brand for my dog every time I order? I would also need to order a three month supply at a time and would need a price from you.?

Unfortunately, Epicur Pharma does not compound pimobendan in the 1.875mg strength, so using 1 ½ tablets of the 1.25mg strength is the best way to achieve a dose of 1.875mg. Do these tablets break/cut easily? I've had tablets in the past which crumbled and I ended up wasting 1/2 the tablet. Would be nice to be able to snap these by hand without a pill cutter but if not simply using a pill cutter and able to give both halves of the pill would be a plus too!?

The pimobendan tablets are roughly 0.5cm and are scored for splitting. If you have difficulty snapping them by hand, using a pill cutter can help ease splitting.

I am currently using Pimobendan 1.25 mg "Tiny Tabs" for my cat, that I get from my vet. They are the perfect size, are scored for easy cutting, and are 6.4mm (1/4") in diameter. Are these Mini-Med tablets the same size ? Thank You?
