What are Pill Pockets for Dogs and Cats?
Pill Pockets are a great product which allows you to hide your pet’s medications easily. Pill Pockets turn your pet’s medications into treats and will make them love taking pills. They come in tablet capsule sizes to accommodate most pills. There are also cat and dog formulations with flavors ranging from chicken, salmon, peanut butter, and hickory smoke. You can also get the formulations with real meat in them.Review Summary

READ THIS IF YOU WANT YOUR CAT TO EAT THEM!
If your cat won't eat them, try this trick - My cat is not attracted to the flavor of the pill pockets, but because they are soft like play-doh, I crush my cat's favorite hard treats and use the crumbs to coat the pill pocket and trick my cat into thinking he is eating his favorite treat. It works!
This is how you do it: 1) Crush a few of your cat's favorite hard treats (mine likes Whiska's Temptations Chicken Flavor treats) and put the crumbs in a small cup; 2) At the same time, cover the pill thoroughly with the pill pocket; 3) Roll the pill pocket containing the pill in the cup with the treat crumbs. You will have to press it a bit, while you are rolling it in there. However you do it, just cover the pill pocket as best as you can; 4) Put it on a little plate and watch your cat smell it and eat it!
I give the treat/pill pocket to him every day around the same time and on the same plate, so now he naturally comes to the kitchen and waits for me while I prepare it.I really hope this helps you out. It's made my life much simpler and wanted to share this trick!

Where are the duck & pea Pill Pockets?
A few weeks ago I was disappointed to notice that the duck & pea flavor were suddenly not on the shelf at the pet store. Both of my cats loved them and would take their pills without any problem. Now I am having to "pill" them, because the other flavors are not as well accepted. One cat will eat salmon on occasion, and the other won't touch it. Is there any chance that you will bring the duck flavor back? I bought the canine duck version and they don't like it.

fabulous product
From Austin, TXComments about Pill PocketsMy 14 yr old bichopoo will not take any meds by mouth...He hides under the bed and it is such a struggle to get the meds into him. But when I put it into a Greenie Pill Pocket, he takes it and loves it. I am so thrilled with this wonderful product.-

Great way to feed our cat his medicine
From Chicago, IL, USAComments about Pill PocketsWithout the pill pockets there is no way our cat would take his medicine. The vet mentioned the pill shooter or putting it in his food. Both of those options did not work. Now every morning he waits for his pill pocket like it's a treat. -
So easy to give my bichon her pills now!
From New York StateComments about Pill PocketsI have ordered these several times now and my Happy dog loves them and takes her pills without spitting the pill out. Is great for me especially since I give her pills before I go to work. I have had several orders with this company and I like them a lot. Fast service and its cute the way they enclose a dog biscuit and magnet for you.-
She didnt see me----I have her slipper! Alright!

Easy giving big pills with this product
From Mpls, MNComments about Pill PocketsI give my dog 2 rather large pills wrapped in pill pockets and she just gulps them down when they are wrapped up, no way she would take them individually without the product. -
Practical solution
From Los Angeles, CA, USAComments about Pill PocketsMy cat Pitzu has to take 3 different medicines a day for long-term health conditions. Originally I was squirting liquid doses into his mouth. Even after I started using compounded medications to improve the taste, he hated the sound of the squirt, and he hated being held while I tried to administered the dose. Sometimes some of the dose was spilled. What's worse is that the struggle was affecting our relationship, because he started avoiding me. Then I started using the same medications in pill format (which can be cheaper than compounded medications). I hide the pills in Pill Pockets. Now Pitzu thinks his pills are treats, and there's no unpleasantness in our day. The chicken pocket is a little dry, so the pocket doesn't seem to hold together as well. The salmon pocket is a little more moist and holds together so well that I can give the pill a little roll so my cat will have the fun of pouncing on it. (I always check to make sure he didn't somehow get the pocket without the pill.) I see there's an allergy formula and I want to try it.-
Pitzu is playful and comfortable, even with long-term health conditions

Perfect for meds!
From Harrisburg, PA, USAComments about Pill PocketsMy dog loves the chicken pill pockets. He comes running when I tell him to come get his meds. Previously, he would eat the food I used to put his meds in, then spit the meds out on the floor. -
chicken flavor is best
From Salem, OR, USAComments about Pill PocketsThank heavens for pill pockets. My older dog has to take pills daily, and he is very sneaky about hiding them in his mouth until I walk away and then spitting them out. Have tried disguising the pills in any number of food items. Peanut butter worked, but stuck to the roof of his mouth. :( So purchased the pill pockets out of desperation. Have used 3 versions (duck, chicken, peanut butter). My dog loves them all, but my preference is the chicken. The peanut butter dries out and doesn't form around the pill as easily. The duck is a bit oily and I don't care for the smell, but all the other animals in the house come running for a smidgeon. The chicken capsule size is easy to split in half for smaller pills and doesn't dry out. I've tried other cheaper versions of pill pockets and they don't work. The trick is to press the pill pocket around the pill so the dog swallows in one yummy bite.

1) Which of the pill pockets for dogs has the least amount of protein? My dog has serious kidney issues and I'm looking for something that is compatible with his condition. 2) How much protein is in each of the pill pockets with the least amount amount of protein.?
-
It looks like the Hickory Smoke and Chicken flavor both have 11% crude protein as opposed to 12% in the peanut butter. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Are the pill pocket sleeping pills?
-
Joseph, The Greenie's Pill Pockets are not a medication of any kind. They are an alternative method assisting in the administration of medication for pets. As some pets can be difficult to pill, pet owners sometimes find that pill pockets are a more pleasant method of ensuring a pet is getting the medication it needs. Thank you, VetRxDirect
