Eye Care for Senior Dogs
After my senior dog had eye surgery, his opthamologist recommended that I insert the gel into both his eyes twice a day to prevent them from drying due to age. That's for the rest of his days. The cost at the doctor's is $18 a tube, which lasts a month, but I can get this product through VetRx for about half the price. I order a few months' worth to get free shipping, too.

Optixcare Ophthalmic Eye Health was the answer
From UndisclosedComments about Optixcare Ophthalmic Eye Health, 20g TubeOptixcare Ophthalmic Eye Health was ordered/suggested by my vet. I hold my dog's eyelid back and drop a string of the ointment onto his sclera and quickly but gently massage his closed eyelids to ensure the ointment has dispersed correctly. I know this is the answer to his dry eye problem-

Can Optixcare Eye Health be used in conjunction with Ocu-Glo Rx for dogs? Thank you!?
-
Both of these products are non-prescription veterinary use products, for the management of eye health issues in dogs. Optixcare Eye Health is applied to the eyes, while Ocu-Glo Rx is a gelcap that you administer orally. It is unclear if concurrent usage of these products will result in an adverse effects. What's the difference between the "EYE HEALTH" formualtion and the "EYE LUBE"??
-
A manufacturer representative states Optixcare Eye Health is used as an aid in protection against ocular oxidative stress and oxidative-related inflammation. Optixcare Eye Lube is used as an eye lubricant to help treat dry eye(s). Consult with your veterinarian to determine which product is appropriate for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

What is Hyaluron? And why is it added??
-
Hyaluron, or hyaluronic acid, is a substance that is naturally produced in skin, eye, and other body tissues. It binds with water and contributes to maintenance of moisture by preventing water loss. Replacing hyaluron could be helpful in maintaining moisture in pets with dry eyes. Speak with your veterinarian to determine if adding hyaluron would be recommended for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is this the same as the 15g/.53oz, just a bigger size tube? Or is the med stronger. I usually buy 2 tubes of 15g/.53oz at a time, but would love the convienience of just getting a larger tube.?

There are two different sizes of the Optixcare. We carry the 15g and 25g tubes. It is the same medication just different sizes. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I am looking for GenTeal Lubricant eye gel do you carry this or have something the same it has carbopal 980, phosphonic acid, purified water, sodium perborate and sorbitol. I have a order I am placing but hope you have this.?
-
It looks like the active ingredient in GenTeal gel is hypromellose. We do not carry any eye gel that contains this active ingredient. We do carry several lubricant eye gels, but none that are equivalent to GenTeal. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is there a very close substitute for subject medication. We need to get a refill today or tomorrow as the Eye Specialist Office is closed for the weekend.?
-
Janet, Optixcare Eye Lube + Hyaluron does not require a prescription and is currently in stock. An order placed by 3pm central time on weekdays will generally ship the same day in the mail. Shipping can be upgraded as needed. We are not aware of a very close substitute for this medication. Your primary veterinarian may have a recommendation on a product to bridge the time between when you run out and when the Optixcare Eye Lube + Hyaluron can be acquired. Thank you, VetRxDirect
