Could lack of appetite be a side effect??
-
MotaZol is a medication with a combination of active ingredients including gentamicin, mometasone, and clotrimazole. The side effects of MotaZol reflect those of the active ingredients. Since my geriatric dog has finished a round of this medication for ear infections, she is completely deaf. She was NOT completely deaf before being prescribed....Is there any cure to this "side effect"??? (And, yes, I know that you have a convenient caveat on the inserted pamphlet in the box)?

Unfortunately, the small number of dogs with hearing loss that occurs with gentamicin (the antibiotic in Motazol) is often irreversible. Some research suggests that certain antioxidants (D-methionine, glutathione, a-lipoic acid) might prevent further hearing loss, but you should definitely discuss starting an additional supplement with your pet's veterinarian before doing so.
