Mita-Clear is an otic (ear) solution that contains pyrethrin (an insecticide) and piperonyl butoxide to help kill ear mites. Mita-Clear is for use in dogs and cats over 12 weeks of age as in indicated to kill ear mites in the adult and larval stages. You should talk your pet’s veterinarian first before using Mita-Clear, and follow their instructions for use.
The manufacturer’s recommendations for killing ear mites are as follows:
Clean ear with an otic solution. Place a sufficient amount of Mita-Clear into each ear to thoroughly coat the surface of the ear canal. Gently massage the base of the ear. Leave lotion in ear for a few minutes and carefully wipe the excess lotion from the ear with cotton. Do not reapply for seven days.

How long can you keep this before it expires?

Mita-Clear is an anti-parasitic product used topically in the ear for the treatment of ear mite infestations in dogs and cats. The reason for no expiration date provided on the container is that according to the manufacturer the product doesn't outdate. We recommend that you contact your veterinarian to determine what he or he recommends as it relates to using an older dispensed Mita-Clear bottle.
