Does the dosage go by size? My son's dog is about 100 lbs.?
-
Melatonin may be used for a variety of conditions in dogs including hair loss, sleeping issues, or separation anxiety. Dosing is dependent on the condition being treated. For hair loss, the dosing is 3-12 mg 2-3 times daily for at least 4 months to determine if effective. For sleep disorders, dosing is approximately 0.1 mg/kg. In your case for a 100 lb dog, 5 mg would be the approximate dose. We recommend you discuss this first with your veterinarian before attempting to give your son's dog melatonin. Thank you, VetRxDirect
