- Use as directed by your veterinarian.
MAXI/GUARD OraZn Gel
- Manufacturer's suggested use: Apply gel directly to the outside gums above the back upper molars. One drop placed on your index finger, swab, or fingerbrush and applied on each side of the mouth will provide optimum pet acceptance in adult cats. Use slightly more for small dogs. Most medium to large dogs will accept direct application from the built-in applicator tip. A natural cleansing action will distribute the gel to remote areas of the mouth. Use daily for best results.
MAXI/GUARD Oral Cleansing Formula Spray
- Manufacturer's suggested use: Pour the contents of the tube into the MAXI/GUARD bottle, shake until dissolved, and spray. MAXI/GUARD can also be sprayed directly onto a pet toothbrush or gauze pad and applied to the outside of the pet's back molar teeth and gums.
MAXI/GUARD Oral Cleansing Gel
- Manufacturer's suggested use: Remove cap and applicator tip. Pour attached vial contents into gel. Snap applicator tip into place and replace cap. After ascorbic acid has dropped to bottom of gel, shake until dissolved. Holding your pet's head steady with one hand, place the applicator tip inside the corner of the mouth. Gently squeeze a small amount of gel onto the outside of the back upper molar teeth and gums. A natural cleansing action will distribute gel to remote areas. Use daily for best results.
MAXI/GUARD Oral Cleansing Wipes
- Manufacturer's suggested use: Wrap one oral wipe around index finger and gently wipe teeth and gums on both sides. For the first few applications or for large pets, more than one wipe may be used. Provide praise to the pet to ensure a positive experience. Dispose of used wipes properly. Use daily for best results.

Excellent cleaner, comfortable.
From UndisclosedComments about MAXI/GUARD Oral Cleansing Wipes, 100ctThese wipes are expensive, but they're worth the money, they actually clean better than other dental cleaning wipes I have used on Evangeline, the woven fabric is rough but not too rough, and more comfortable for Evangeline, and the cleaning compound on these wipe pads is top tier. -

Doesn't help my Tabby
From Buellton, CAComments about MAXI/GUARDI have a 13 year old Tabby cat who was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about two years ago. Since then he's had teeth issue and has a couple of extractions. Our vet prescribed this since it would be easier than brushing. Maybe it's because of the diabetes, but this has had zero effect and I've been using it for about 9 months. -
I would recommend this for certain dogs
From UndisclosedComments about MAXI/GUARDEasy to use. Have 3 terriers with varying degrees of teeth issues. Works very well on most -
I will continue to buy this product.
From UndisclosedComments about MAXI/GUARDMy dog doesn't like the taste but results have helped my dog mucho! -
I was purchasing from vet and it was much more expensive.
From UndisclosedComments about MAXI/GUARDMy little Snuffy had extensive dental work done a couple years ago and needs maxi guard at his gum line each day to insure that he will not have to have this awful proceedure repeated in the future. So far, so good. The alternative would be round of antibiotics each month. -
Look no where else, seriously!
From UndisclosedComments about MAXI/GUARDThis is the stuff! Look no where else, seriously! I have a 17 yr old lab mix with periodontal disease and also a genetic enamel issue. Now that he is too old to be put under anesthesia, and he's too sensitive for brushing, this is the best solution on the market today. Plus, the pads are large and very well soaked with the solution. This product combined with the oratene water additive is the only procedure that helped my pet live longer, honestly.... The oratene water additive loosens the tarter up and the pads can wipe it away much easier. It takes a couple of weeks to get to that point but well worth it! -
Save pet dental cleanings/anesthetic with proper application
From UndisclosedComments about MAXI/GUARDI use the liquid, once it has been mixed with the powder, I assiduously keep it in the fridge. Every morning, I take a small syringe I got from the vet, take off the lid to the bottle, put the syringe in with the plunger down, and then draw the plunger up with MaxiGuard. I then hold the syringe over the bottle and depress the plunger until I have the amount I want. I put the syringe gently against my cat's lips, thumb on the plunger, and when he opens his mouth, I quick dispense the liquid into his mouth. He is five, has no gum or tooth problems, and has never had to have a dental cleaning. Vet can't believe it! -
A small price to pay for an important probably benefit
From undisclosedComments about MAXI/GUARDMaxi/Guard Oral Cleaning Gel is easy to use and appears to help reduce gingivitis in our two cats. My objective is to avoid expensive and intrusive dental surgery (plaque removal and teeth extraction, if required). While one of the cats still has some gingivitis, neither has required dental surgery for a number of years. I assume that the Maxi/Guard, as well as the manual rubbing of the gums, has helped. If I had more conclusive evidence, I might have given it a 5-star rating. I only wish that the Maxi/Guard Oral Gel were a little more viscous. As it gets older, it becomes thinner and much of it rolls off my finger before I can rub it on the cat's gums. An important recommendation: refrigerating the gel makes it last much longer (keeps it from turning yellowish green, a sign that it is no longer usable). I have been able to use an entire bottle this way and have only required one to two bottles per year for two cats.
