Great value!
From Brownsville ORComments about Lactated Ringers SolutionWe administer lactated ringers to our elderly cat who has CKD two or three times a week. We paid twice as much for several years, so we are pleased to find the same quality for half the price. The fluids keep our cat hydrated and although he gets fidgety during the process, we can tell he feels better afterward. -

Q & A
-
when will you get these and why are they on a nation wide back order??
-
Jimmi, Unfortunately, we are not given any information as to why products go on a back order. We do have a limited supply of the Lactated Ringers right now, but we are unsure of when it will become more readily available to us. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I normally get the 1000ml bag of the lactated ringer solution, but you are out of stock. I see that on the 250ml the lines are further apart and it seems that 50ml on this bag is the same as 100ml on the 1000ml bag, can you explain the difference??
-
The 1000 milliliter bag is wider and longer than the 250 milliliter bag therefore the increments will reflect this size difference. The incremental lines on the 1000 milliliter bag is numbered by 100 milliliters as single digits (1 equals 100 milliliters) with an un-numbered increment line between indicating the corresponding 50 milliliters. The 250 milliliter bag is labeled and numbered by fifties. The milliliter increments on the two different sized bags are equivalent therefore 100 milliliters on the 250 milliliter bag is equivalent to the 100 milliliters on the 1000 milliliter bag. Is this the same as Veterinary Plasma-Lyte A Injection PH 7.4 Abbott 04907-04-10?
-
Nikkidee, Plasma-Lyte A pH 7.4 (also called Normosol R) is a prescription electrolyte solution, like the Lactated Ringer's, however they are not composed of the exact same ingredients and cannot be substituted one for the other. Your pet's veterinarian would be best able to decide which fluids, if any, are best for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is it ok to give this solution to a cat if his magnesium level is on the high side??
-
Becky, Standard lactated ringer’s solution (LRS) does not contain any magnesium in the solution. Lactated ringer’s solution is considered a balanced replacement or maintenance solution that resembles extracellular fluid and the plasma composition and is useful in many situations. Administration of standard lactated ringer’s solution (LRS) would not provide additional magnesium. Proper fluid replacement therapy instructions from your veterinarian should be closely followed to ensure positive outcomes in your cat. Thank you, VetRxDirect

how long does this keep??
-
Linda, We do not carry dextrose IV solution, however if this is a commercially-available product it will have an expiration date listed on the IV bag. With the bag unopened and stored under correct conditions the IV solution is good until the expiration date. Once the IV bag is punctured with the IV line it is recommended to use in a short period of time as directed because using for any extended period of time can increase the risk of contamination to the solution increasing your pet’s risk of infection. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My vet adds 10 mls KCI to a bag of ringers solution. This adds about $30.00 to the bill. Can I purchase a bag of ringers from you with this added??
-
Yvette, We do not do any compounding of injectable medications, which is what this would require. The only compounding service we provide is medications for oral consumption. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Do you sell DEHP free ringers? Also, DEHP IV venosets? Thanks?
-
Rev D, While the Lactated Ringers Solution does not contain this chemical, it is present in the product's plastic bags. Exposure is limited as long as the solution is used within the expiration date. Lactated Ringers Solution is sold in high volumes, keeping the supply fresh. This helps minimize any concerns as long as the product is used within the expiration date. Thank you, VetRxDirect
