Ketoseb +PS for Dogs and Cats
Ketoseb + PS is a shampoo containing chlorhexidine 2%, ketoconazole 1%, and phytosphingosine. It can be used in dogs or cats. Chlorhexidine may help with bacteria growth while ketoconazole helps with fungus growth. Phytosphingosine is a naturally occurring lipid or fat, which can help restore the barrier function of the skin and possibly decrease inflammation.
How to use Ketoseb + PS:
Shake the product well and wet the hair coat with warm water. Apply a sufficient amount of shampoo to create a rich lather. Massage the shampoo into the fur and then rinse. Reapply the product and repeat the lathering. This time, allow the product to remain on the fur for 5-10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. This product may be used 2-3 times a week for the first 4 weeks then once a week thereafter or as directed by your pet's veterinarian.

I've been using this product from my vet for my 1 year old 94lb Black Labrador. Dx is puppy acne. This is forth time. First 3 times vet gave antibiotic. It would go away. This time she gave me this. It has gotten worse not better. He had 2 bumps when I called the vet. Now 4 days later he's got 6 it's spreading and red. And he doesn't like it at all. I would use stridex and I'd use my Clinuqe claryifing lotion. It didn't make it spread it was kind of helping. Any how any thoughts on why it would make it worse. I'm taking to the vet tomorrow. Thank you?

Ketoseb+PS is a medicated shampoo designed to reduce bacteria and fungus growth on the skin. It contains chlorhexidine (antiseptic), ketoconazole (antifungal) and phytosphingosine, to help restore barrier function of the skin. It is labeled for use in non-specific skin conditions that are responsive to these ingredients. According to the manufacturer, if skin irritation develops or increases, you should discontinue use and contact your veterinarian. Your pet may have a sensitivity to one of the ingredients in this shampoo, but because each pet responds differently to treatments, we recommend contacting your veterinarian if you are noticing any problems from using this product. Will ketoseb+ps shampoo help with mange?
-
Mange is a skin disease caused by several species of tiny mites commonly found on dogs. Some mange mites are normal inhabitants of your pet’s skin and fur while others are not. Any of these mites can cause mild to severe skin infections if they are allowed to proliferate. Ketoseb + PS contains multiple active ingredients including the antibacterial chlorhexidine, the antifungal ketoconazole and phytosphingosine, a naturally occurring fat to help restore skin’s natural barrier. These components can help clear up secondary skin infections that often occur when pets are afflicted with mange. However, Ketoseb + PS does not contain the correct ingredients necessary to eliminate the mites that cause mange. Some types of mange are contagious between other dogs, while others are not. Please consult your veterinarian regarding the type of mange that your pet may have and their proper treatment course. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is the Ketoseb like the Malaseb good for helping with the treatment of ringworm in kittens??
-
Morton, Both products contain an antifungal and an antibacterial agent that work against ringworm. The difference between the products are the active antifungals. Malaseb contains miconazole and Ketoseb contains ketoconazole, and both of these drugs are good for treating ringworm. Ketoseb also contains a third product called phytosphingosine, which isn’t found in malaseb, and is a naturally occurring lipid which can help restore the barrier function of the skin and possibly decrease inflammation.
