It WORKS!!
i have two epileptic beagles and my vet added potassium bromide in addition to the phenobarbital that they take....and the seizure episodes diminished enormously!!! vetrxdirect is wonderful to work with, they send emails letting me know what's going on, and i love how, if i need to call, i actually get to talk to a real person....in fact, when i called this morning, i talked to the same girl who had sent me the email, and she knew who i was!!!!! LOVE them!!!!! great service!!! plus, they are also the only online pharmacy that carries this drug.....

Wonderful Pet Pharmacy Experience
From UndisclosedComments about K-BroVet (Potassium Bromide) Oral Solution CA1 500mg, 60 Chewable TabletsI use this product along with Phenobarbital for my dog with fairly severe Epilepsy. This combination helps keep his seizures at bay, it was recommended and prescribed by my local vet, but is a lot more convenient to order online, not to mention less than half the cost! I was using another pharmacy and they never had it in stock, but also were not very good about working with me or my vet. Vet RX Direct has been wonderful! The service was incredibly fast, they got approval from my vet quickly, and I had the product here when they said I would! It's scary when medication runs low and your pet depends on it for their wellbeing. Now, I won't have to worry about that any more. I plan on being a customer for the long future. -

More bang for my buck
From UndisclosedComments about K-BroVet (Potassium Bromide) Oral Solution 250mg/mL, 10oz (300mL) Oral SolutionMy dog has been on Potassium Bromide for over 10 years. I used to get it from a Compound Pharmacy and it would cost me a fortune. My latest vet told me about K BroVet and it is cost efficient and my dog takes it alot better. My only issue has always been the bottle. It leaks. My most recent bottle has not leaked thankfully so maybe they have made a change of some kind to the top. It has definitely helped with my dogs seizures. The higher concentration means less per dose for my little guy so one bottle goes a long way. -
Easy and efficient

Definitely continuing to buy this!!
From UndisclosedComments about K-BroVet (Potassium Bromide) Oral SolutionOur dogs seizures are very rare now with this medicine. We will definitely continue using it. -
So much more effective than Phenobarbital!!
From UndisclosedComments about K-BroVet (Potassium Bromide) Oral SolutionMy vet switched my dog from phenobarbital to K-BroVet to help regulate his seizures. He has far fewer break-through seizures and his overall quality of life is much higher. He had been having accidents in the house based on the phenobarbital and had also had to be on Proin based on this. Now he's no longer on the Proin and is no longer having accidents!

Can I mix the chewable K brovet tablets in my dogs wet food ahead of time(in daily portioned amounts)for kennel boarding purposes ??
-
If your dog’s wet food requires refrigeration after opening, it is recommended to add K-BroVet immediately prior to administration. According to the manufacturer, K-BroVet should be stored at room temperature (68-77 °F). The stability of K-BroVet cannot be guaranteed if stored at cooler temperatures. Please consult your veterinarian with further questions about safely storing and administering this medication.

Is this medicine as potent as having my pharmacy compound it ??
-
K-BroVet is a veterinary prescription medication used in the treatment of seizure disorders. K-BroVet is a commercially available product that contains the chemical, potassium bromide. Whether your veterinarian prescribes K-BroVet chews or solution, or chooses to have potassium bromide compounded, the potency(or dose) prescribed will depend on what the veterinarian recommends. As a result, the only difference between the commercially available and compounded products (medication made in pharmacy) will be the inactive ingredients used to make these dosage forms. VetRxDirect can compound several different formulations of potassium bromide, including solutions and capsules tailoring the dose and dosage form to the pet’s needs.Contact your veterinarian to determine which potassium bromide medication is most appropriate for the management of your pet’s seizure disorder. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My dog doesn't like the taste of the liquid. Can it be mixed with Greek yogurt and frozen more like a treat??
-
The manufacturer of K-BroVet recommends storing their product at room temperature in a tightly sealed container. Refrigeration or freezing of the liquid solution can cause crystallization of the product, leading to potentially inaccurate dosing. It is therefore not recommended to freeze this product. There is an alternate dosage form of K-BroVet available, a liver flavored chewable tablet, that could be viable option for your situation. VetRxDirect also offers several compounded options of potassium bromide. Please contact your veterinarian to determine what they believe is the best course of therapy for your dog. Thank you, VetRxDirect

-
Is 250 mg of tablet potassium bromide equal to 1 ml liquid form??
-
Holly, The commerically available KBrovet oral solution is 250mg/mL, so one 250mg tablet would be equal in strength to 1 milliliter of the oral suspension. We also compound potassium bromide in a variety of capsule and liquid strengths, to assist in easier dosing. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My veterinarian wants me to increase my 15 lb dog K BroVet from 250 to 550 for 5 days because he was having seizures everyday, on top of 16.2 mg of phenobarbital to give his brain a boost, could there be a side affect on this boost??
-
Lynie, For seizure treatment the loading dose of K-BroVet is typically between 400 and 600 mg per day. Even though 550 mg is within the loading dose, there may be adverse effects associated the medication. The most common side effect is sedation, lasting up to 3 weeks, in dogs receiving this drug. This adverse effect is commonly seen when used with phenobarbital treatment. Other potential adverse effects reported include weight gain in the first few months of therapy, increase urine frequency, weight loss, vomiting, and constipation. You may feed a low calorie diet to avoid weight gain. Also, acute GI upset may occur if the loading dose is given too rapidly. Please contact your dog's veterinarian if one of these adverse effects is observed while on this medication. In addition to the side effects noted above, we recommend giving doses on a regular basis. Lack of good compliance is a major cause of therapeutic failures with anti-seizure medications. If a dose is missed, give it when remembered; a dose may be doubled the next day, but should be separated by several hours to reduce the chance for an upset stomach. If your dog cannot tolerate an upset stomach (i.e. vomiting) of K-BroVet with daily doses your pet may better tolerate doses divided throughout the day and given with food. Thank you, VetRxDirect
