Vet recommended this.
From Aliquippa, PaComments about Iverhart Max Chewable Tablets for DogsI have been buying this for quite a while, but my dog won't eat it, I have to break it up in small pieces and hide it in her food. The vet was surprised that neither one of my dogs liked the taste. I only have one now as my other one passed away from cancer. But neither one got heartworms.

I see that you are currently out of stock of the Iverhart Max product. Our dog is 25 lbs but we have some left over from last year (50 - 100lb dose) that we had purchased for our 80lb lab. (We lost her to cancer last year). Can I use the 50 - 100lb dose for our 25lb dog until the smaller dose size is in stock? We could cut in half if it is not safe to give him the full dose? The expiration is Dec 2016. Thanks!?
-
The active drug may not be consistent throughout the entire chewable tablet so it's not recommended to split the tablet into smaller doses. Please consult with your veterinarian for the right heartworm medication for your dog with the consideration of the area you live in. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Does the prescription for heartworm meds have to be renewed on a yearly basis from our vet. in order to order from your company? I have my dogs on heartworm meds all the time nonstop, and I don't get them tested yearly. I see that your meds are a lot more reasonable priced than in our veterinarian office. I pay almost double for the large dose and I have 3 dogs.?
-
Yes, we can fill a year's worth of medication and then we would need a new prescription. Thank you, VetRxDirect

What other product is the closest recommendation to use in place of Iverhart Max while it is out of stock??
-
We would suggest contacting your veterinarian to see what they would recommend. We have other heartgard medications that contains Ivermectin and Pyrantel but none that also contain the Praziquantel. Thank you, VetRxDirect

When will the Iverhart MAX - 6 month supply be back in stock??
-
The manufacturer of this product is going through an investigation with the FDA right now so they are not producing any new product. As soon as they are able to we will get more in, we just don't know when that will be unfortunately. The best we can recommend is to keep checking back on the website periodically. how long does it take to start killing worms??
-
Jean B, Iverhart Max is a heartworm preventative and also an antiparasitic medication used for the treatment of certain types of roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms. If the pet has diarrhea due to intestinal parasites (hookworms, roundworms or tapeworms), improvement may be seen after the first dose. Iverhart Max’s effectiveness for treating the parasite infection should be monitored closely by your veterinarian and depending on the type of infection may require a follow up visit or retreatment with the medication, or additional medication, between 1 to 4 weeks after the initial dose. A veterinarian is needed to correctly diagnose and treat intestinal parasites, especially if symptoms of diarrhea are present. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Do I need a prescription ??
-
Jcristensen Iverhart Max is a prescription drug requiring authorization from your pet's veterinarian. It's best for your dog to have a current negative heartworm test and is required by most veterinarians. Please place your online order and we will contact your pet's veterinary clinic, usually the same business day. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Can you use this one an Australian Shepherd dog without causing seizures??
-
Iverhart Max contains the drug ivermectin which has been shown to be sensitive in certain dogs of the Collie breed. The observed adverse effects are: dilated pupils, depression, tremors, and excitability. The manufacturer of Iverhart Max does not note seizures as an adverse effect. When ivermectin is used at the recommended dose as indicated in dogs, including Collies, it is considered to be safe. We recommend contacting your veterinarian to determine the appropriate antiparasitic therapy for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

what's the difference btwn iverhart max and inverhart plus?? we were forced to switch to iverhart plus the last time we refilled and now it's out of stock in your market page...?
-
Dennis, The difference between Iverhart Max and Iverhart Plus is the active ingredients. Iverhart Plus contains ivermectin and pyrantel which cover heartworm, roundworm, and hookworm. Iverhart Max contains the ivermectin and pyrantel for the heartworm, roundworm, and hookworm, and it also contains praziquantel, which protects against tapeworms. If you are looking for an medication equivalent to Iverhart Plus, you can talk to your dog's veterinarian about Tri-Heart Plus or Heartgard Plus, which are the same medications (ivermectin and pyrantel) but different manufacturers. Heartgard Plus is considered the brand name, and Tri-Heart Plus and Iverhart Plus are generic options for Heartgard Plus. Thank you, VetRxDirect
