Antifungal with excellent activity against ringworm
From UndisclosedComments about Itrafungol (itraconazole oral solution) 10 mg/mL, 52mLIt's a good product since compounded formulas for itraconazole don't work for ringworms in cats. I would like to see the bottle more leak proof as I lost some medication due to spillage while transporting it. I'd also like to see the bottle redesigned to produce a seal between the bottle and syringe. Ideally it would be either more concentrated or be distributed in a larger quantity since ringworm treatment is usually prolonged. It's unfortunate it's so expensive so I think I'll carry the same product now at my clinic for future patients.-

Itrafungol is easy to use and comes highly recommended!
From UndisclosedComments about Itrafungol (itraconazole oral solution)Itrafungol is very highly rated ringworm medication by my cat rescue friends. The product works without the dreaded dipping baths that no one likes, especially the cat. The liquid form comes with instructions by weight and a type of syringe with a wide top for easy measuring based on the cats weight. The taste must have been neutral as the cats lapped up a slurry of medicine and wet cat food. There was no need to try to force liquid medicine down their throat. The dosages are 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 days on. We have just finished the first seven days so there is a way to go, however, it does appear the ringworm has stopped spreading and isn't quite as red. The prescription order had to be approved by my vet but we received it super fast which was a big help.-

Least expensive option
From UndisclosedComments about Itrafungol (itraconazole oral solution)This is the least expensive source for Itrafungol. I needed to use it for many months for my cat's near-fatal lung infection. -

I would buy again.
From UndisclosedComments about Itrafungol (itraconazole oral solution)This is a good product when the ringworm case is very bad, all over the kitty. The bad part is it takes 5 weeks of treatment (3 weeks of treatment followed in between by a week of no treatment). Unfortunately it requires a vet's prescription. -
Safe, proven itraconazole source
From undisclosedComments about Itrafungol (itraconazole oral solution)As a veterinarian, managing feline dermatophytosis is expensive, time-consuming, and frustrating since the cats object to medications and dips. Having a safe, proven source of itraconazole is a tremendous asset in this fight. Also, VetRXDirect was professional, prompt, and very helpful. -
This works for treatment of Fungal Pneumonia
From ArkansasComments about Itrafungol (itraconazole oral solution)My vet used this to treat Fungal Pneumonia in two of my cats. It saved their lives. 1st vet suggested I put one of my cats to sleep, said there was nothing they could do for her. I did not accept that and went to get a 2nd opinion. He immediately put her on Itrafungol. After a week....she started showing signs of improvement. He also gave her a shot of antibiotics because she had extremely high fever. The other vet wanted to try her on steroids. Which is hard to get them off once you start them. 2nd opinion vet said not to give her steroids. Just this Itrafungol. He stated it would take 6 to 8 months of taking this medicine...he did want to warn me of that before starting. She started taking it in January...it is now June....and I have a healthy, happy, very playful kitty! I belive it will take another 2 months before I can stop giving her this. Her breathing is down to the low 40's. Just amazing considing it was in the 80's per minute when I started this process. 2nd kitty which started showing signs in March...is also doing amazing. I caught it early in her, cause I new what signs to be looking for. Rapid breathing and being lathargic. Her breathing all of a sudden jumped up into the 80's and is now 35. I have only seen one place on the Internet that speaks about using this for Fungal Pneumonia...so I want to start getting the word out there. It will save your babies life. My babies are inside cats. We discovered they probably got the Fungal Pneumonia from mold that was in out attic from when our roof leaked. Mold is serious business. It almost killed our indoor cats. But this medicine saved their lives. So, happy I got a 2nd opinion. It is expensive....but worth every dime! -

Our veterinarian prescribed this medication for our dog, a Chihuahua, weighing 3.5 labs. She advised I would be safe for him due to his size and she didn't have a canine dosage small enough for our dog. He is almost 15 years, will this be safe for him.?
-
According to the manufacturer, Intrafungal is an antifungal for use in cats only. However, Itrafungol may be used in an extra-label manner (not consistent with manufacturer instructions) for dogs. With the guidance of a veterinarian, itraconazole can be used safely in dogs. Monitor your dog for changes in appetite and keep all recommended appointments as periodic lab monitoring may be required.
