What is Griseofulvin oral suspension?
Griseofulvin Oral Suspension is a liquid oral product containing the medication griseofulvin. Griseofulvin (generic for Fulvicin) is used to treat skin fungal infections in dogs and cats, primarily ringworm.
What are the side effects of griseofulvin:
Griseofulvin can cause vomiting, loss of appetite, diarrhea, anemia, depression, liver damage, and some forms of immune system damage. Cats, especially kittens, are more prone to side effects. If your pet has side effects other than stomach-related ones, you should contact your pet's veterinarian immediately. Cats should be tested for FIV before starting griseofulvin. Griseofulvin is known to cause birth defects in offspring of cats and is likely in dogs too.

Q & A
-
Can my dog take this while also on Cefpodoxime? How long and how often do I give the medication to my dog??
-
Griseofulvin is used to treat fungal infections and cefpodoxime is used to treat bacterial infections. No drug interactions are expected or have been reported using these two medications at the same time. The dosage and duration of treatment for your dog with griseofulvin will depend on the severity of the infection and the formulation of the medication (microsize verses ultramicrosize) prescribed by your veterinarian. Fungal infections can take a long time to be completely eradicated (sometimes months), so be sure to fully complete the treatment regimen recommended by your veterinarian (even if your dog appears to be doing better mid-way through treatment). Talk to your veterinarian about specific dosing instructions for your dog. Thank you, VetRxDirect
