Medication
My cat, Critter, is doing well on the 2.5mg Felimazole for her hyperthyrodism. I am happy with VetRxdirect and have been impressed with the staff there.
Most Liked Negative Review
Stupid shaped pill
In 2 weeks we have worn through a pill cutter because of the super thick hard coating on the pills. They are also round not flat so portioning them is a nightmare.
If your pet needs a partial dose do not order these, get the generic and save yourself the headaches. These pills are really poorly designed, wish I could exchange them

Great Product! So Easy to Administer!
From undisclosedComments about Felimazole (methimazole)I utilize this medication for my almost 17 year old cat, who has hyperthyroidism. Previously, my vet provided uncoated 5 mg methimazole pills that had to be split in half to accomplish the 2.5 mg dose and were difficult to get my cat to swallow due to the taste and dryness of the pills. I saw these coated pills in a 2.5 mg formulation on the VetRx Direct website and decided to give them a try. The slick coating on the pill combined with the smaller pill size and not having to split them made medicating my cat much easier. Now, not only does she not resist the pill, she actually comes to me for her pill as a part of our morning feeding routine. VetRx Direct made the transition in medication very easy and refills are easy as well. They have a seamless process for communicating with veterinarians for refill prescriptions, the medications are received quickly after the orders are placed, and their prices are very reasonable. -

Its for my cat
From undisclosedComments about Felimazole (methimazole)It does what it supposed to do. My cat's blood work results are acceptable to his vet. I'm glad she prescribed this for him. Coupled with the Pill Pockets, he gets these twice a day and he is doing very well. -

Great selection
From undisclosedComments about Felimazole (methimazole)My cat switches off between 2 different doses. The lower dose daily was not enough, and the higher dose was too much. It helps tremendously that these come in different colors so I can keep track! -
Be aware
From undisclosedComments about Felimazole (methimazole)Cats have hypothyroidism and need the medicine. Medicine is fine, however dealing with Vet Rx not so much. They 90% of time do not answer phone nor do they follow up promptly with customer or veterinarian to get orders processed promptly. Took over a month for my last order. -

Does the coating on Felimazole cover up the very bitter taste and probably offensive smell? What function does a coating accomplish??
-
Felimazole has a sugar coated formulation to improve palliability of methimazole. It does help cover up the bitter taste if swallowed immediately, and the tablets do not possess an offensive smell. The manufacturer states that the tablet should not be crushed or broken. Pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should wear gloves when handling tablets, litter or bodily fluids of cats treated with Felimazole.
