Stupid shaped pill
In 2 weeks we have worn through a pill cutter because of the super thick hard coating on the pills. They are also round not flat so portioning them is a nightmare.
If your pet needs a partial dose do not order these, get the generic and save yourself the headaches. These pills are really poorly designed, wish I could exchange them

He takes 2.5 mg Felimazole twice per day and is a real sweetheart - very easy to dose. We live on an island, and our animal hospital had none of the 2.5 mg script because their vendor had none! Of course, you would know this was the time we needed to buy the refill. I placed the order with PetRxDirect and paid for faster shipping. Long story short: We received Milton's script when we had only 1 pill left! Another plus is that the med is 1/2 the price we pay at the on island vet. We are planning to continue buying Milton's meds at PetRxDirect as well as Rosie's if needed.-

Have been using twice daily for FIVE YEARS!
From UndisclosedComments about Felimazole (methimazole)I have been using Felimazole 2.5mg twice daily for five years with my 8lb cat that was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. The vet is amazed that at 18, and after having hyperthyroidism for so long, she shows no sign of a heart murmur, something that is evidently typical. The coated Felimazole pills are easiest on your pet, especially if they don't go down the first time. No frothing mouth with this pill. The trick is to make sure your hands are dry when you go to open your cat's mouth and toss this in, aiming for the throat. This is frankly much easier, less messy, and way less expensive than the transdermal options that some vets advocate. Also, and this is important, I have read studies that show significantly better management of thyroid levels with a twice a day (morning & night) administration of methimazole. I have seen zero studies that suggest once regimens are a better solution. What may be more convenient for the pet owner, is likely not in the best interest of the pet.-

Wear protective gloves to prevent direct contact with litter, feces, urine, or vomit of treated cats, and broken or moistened tablets. Wash hands after contact with the litter of treated cats. Speak with your veterinarian regarding treatment options if you are having trouble administering intact Felimazole tablets to your cat.

Felimazole has a sugar coated formulation to improve palliability of methimazole. It does help cover up the bitter taste if swallowed immediately, and the tablets do not possess an offensive smell. The manufacturer states that the tablet should not be crushed or broken. Pregnant women, women who may become pregnant, and nursing mothers should wear gloves when handling tablets, litter or bodily fluids of cats treated with Felimazole.
