How do I give Enrofloxacin Suspension?
First, READ THE LABEL CAREFULLY.
Give Enrofloxacin to your pet as directed by your pet's veterinarian.
Give this medication to your pet for as long as prescribed by your veterinarian, even if your pet seems to be feeling better. This will help to ensure the infection is completely cleared up.
If Enrofloxacin is prescribed as a liquid, shake the medicine well, then measure the dose carefully.
Give this medication on an empty stomach, unless otherwise directed by your pet's veterinarian.
Be sure that your pet has water to drink.
DO NOT give your pet more medicine than directed.
DO NOT give your pet medicine more often than prescribed.
Try not to miss giving any doses.
If I miss a dose, what do I do?
If you miss a dose, give it to your pet as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, then continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not give your pet two doses at once.
How do I store Enrofloxacin Suspension?
Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
Store this medicine at room temperature in a dry, cool place. Keep this medicine away from heat and direct sunlight.
Do not store this medicine in damp places, in the bathroom, or near the kitchen sink. This medication can break down when exposed to moisture or heat.
What are the potential side effects of Enrofloxacin Suspension?
Enrofloxacin may cause vomiting and your pet may lose its appetite. If these symptoms persist and appear troublesome, contact your veterinarian.
Other less common side effects of this medicine include stomach upset and excessive thirst.
This medication should not be given to young animals because it may damage cartilage.
A dose greater than 5 mg/kg per day in cats may cause damage to the eyes. Contact your pet's veterinarian immediately if your cat's pupils are dilated, as this may be an early indication of toxicity.
What about possible drug interactions?
Be sure to tell your pet's veterinarian about any other medications you are giving to your pet.
It’s not uncommon for your pet's veterinarian to prescribe two different medications, which may cause a drug interaction to occur. If this happens, your pet's veterinarian may change the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.
Enrofloxacin may interact with the following drugs: antacids, sucralfate, nitrofurantoin, cyclosporine, theophylline, and probenecid.
Contact your pet's veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Beyond Use Date:
It is recommended that Enrofloxacin suspension be used within 3 months. Due to the shelf life of this product, please limit orders to an 80 day supply.
