What is EasOtic Suspension for Dogs?
- EasOtic is a prescription ear medication that combines an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal to fight the cause and the symptoms of some ear infections in dogs.
- The antibiotic gentamicin works against bacteria, while the antifungal miconazole combats yeast.
- The steroid hydrocortisone reduces redness, swelling, and irritation.
- The unique pump canister makes dosing easy. One pump noiselessly delivers the exact dose of 1 mL every time, with precise dosing in any position.
- The flexible nozzle is also gentle on sensitive canine ears.
Why do dogs use EasOtic?
- Veterinarians may prescribe EasOtic to treat canine otitis externa, ear infections, caused by susceptible strains of yeast (Malassezia pachydermatis) and bacteria (Staphylococcus pseudintermedius).
- The three active ingredients resolve the infection and help reduce the inflammation it caused.
What problems could my dog have with EasOtic?
- Do not use with dogs with a damaged or possibly damaged ear drum.
- Do not let EasOtic get into your dog's eyes, mouth, or nose.
- Prevent your dog or other companions from licking or chewing the treated areas for 20 to 30 minutes after application.
How do you use EasOtic?
- Use as directed by your veterinarian.
- Shake well before use.
- Wash your hands after dosing.
- You must prime the canister or pump before first use. To prime the canister, depress the pump 1 to 2 times to fill the clear canula (tip of the nozzle) with a full dose of the suspension.
What is in EasOtic?
- EasOtic contains three active ingredients.
- The antibiotic gentamicin works against bacteria, the antifungal miconazole combats yeast, and the steroid hydrocortisone reduces redness, swelling, and irritation.
Will I get what I see in the picture?
- EasOtic is a brand name. You will receive the exact brand that you request.
Is it important for my dog to finish all of the EasOtic?
- EasOtic contains an antibiotic and an antifungal. Resistance is a major concern when using antibiotics and antifungals. To help avoid resistance, it is important for you to use this for as long as your veterinarian has prescribed, even if you dog is looking and feeling better.

How do get the pump started? It's not pumping out the medicine.?
-
Prior to the first use of EasOtic, you must prime the dosing container. To prime the container, depress the pump 1 to 2 times to fill the clear canula (tip of the nozzle) with a full dose of the suspension. Once the container is primed it is ready to be applied following the directions on the prescription label or as directed by your veterinarian.

When using this on a cat, can you hurt the ear with the end of it? Are you meant to insert it all the way in??
-
EasOtic is indicated for the treatment of otitis externa in dogs associated with susceptible strains of yeast and bacteria. For this reason, the manufacturer cannot provide instructions on dosage or administration techniques in cats. Under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian, EasOtic can be safely used in cats. Please consult your veterinarian for more information regarding proper administration technique.
Verified Answer -
Do NOT use this for a cat and do NOT insert the canula all the way in. It is way too long for a cat's ear.

Is this safe to use on a diabetic dog??
-
EasOtic is a topical suspension used for otitis externa (outer ear infection) in dogs, or as prescribed by your veterinarian. This medication contains hydrocortisone aceponate, miconazole nitrate, and gentamicin sulfate. When taken orally, hydrocortisone is known to cause blood sugar to increase. EasOtic is a topical medication that is (at most) minimally absorbed. No special precautions need to be taken simply due to the dog being diabetic. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Will this accumulate in the hairs located in my dogs ears? Therefore not reaching deep into the canal. Also, will the Easotic pump relieve any of my dog's ear pain??
-
Your veterinarian will need to ensure that the eardrum is intact and may elect to remove excessive hair from the treatment area prior to administering EasOtic. Ask your veterinarian for a recommendation on a product to clean and flush the ear canal prior to administration of Easotic. The ear should be routinely cleaned with an appropriate flush and allowed to dry prior to administration. Any noticeable foreign material should be removed from the area prior to administration. EasOtic needs to be shaken prior to each use and primed prior to the first use. EasOtic offers a convenient pump bottle to dispense a consistent amount of medication with each pump. EasOtic is indicated for the treatment of otitis externa in dogs caused yeast and bacteria. Closely follow all dosing directions from your veterinarian and report back if the symptoms of the ear infection do not improve over the course of treatment.

I've been using this product for the prescribed 5days and I'm noticing that my dog is not hearing as well as a week ago. Could this be from the medication??
-
Victoria, EasOtic contains hydrocortisone, miconazole, and gentamicin (steroid, antifungal, and antibiotic). Per the package insert of EasOtic, aminoglycoside antibiotics (gentamicin) are associated with ototoxicity (ear toxicity). The use of EasOtic suspension in a dog with a damaged tympanic membrane can result in damage to the structures of the ear associated with hearing and balance or in transmission of the infection to the middle or inner ear. It is recommended to immediately discontinue the use of EasOtic suspension if hearing loss or signs of balance dysfunction are observed during treatment. There have been reports of hearing loss and redness to the application site. In most reported cases, the hearing loss and redness were short acting and resolved with discontinuation of EasOtic suspension. Please contact your veterinarian to report the situation and to see if drug discontinuation is necessary. Thank you, VetRxDirect
