Supposed to Help with UTI
Well they asked for a review, which is hard to do. But 2-year-old Border Collie has had regular UTIs and this is supposed help move the PH to a less hospitable environment. Seeing as our water is Basic I'm hoping this help. Will update in 3 months, only 1 month in to treatment.

Helped avoid UTIs
From UndisclosedComments about DL-Methionine 500mg, 150 TabletsVet prescribed to acidify her urine and avoid UTIs. I crush the pill and mix it in with her food. The meds haven't upset her stomach or cause any other side-effect that I am aware of. Most importantly, the meds are doing their job, no more UTIs for my fur baby. -

The medication is working with our cat. Great job.
From UndisclosedComments about DL-MethionineI was told by our Vet that we needed this for our cat. Barring the fact that we all had bad weather, our product was processed in the quickest way possible. We had tracking codes, and they were right on spot. Great to have them do this for us. We will use them again in the future DEFINITELY!!! -

Came fast, as advertised, waiting to see if does the job.
From UndisclosedComments about DL-Methionine 200mg Tablet, 1000ctAfter research, found that DL Methionine was what makes expensive prescription dog food prescription. Crushes very easily and must not have much taste because our dog doesn't seem to notice it in her food or treats. 4 stars because we don't know yet if it acidifies her urine and dissolves the small struvite bladder stones or not. If it does, I'll be back to update to 5. -
This medication is helping
From UndisclosedComments about DL-Methionine 200mg Tablet, 150ctThe medication is helping my Ellie girl -
Cost efficient
From UndisclosedComments about DL-MethionineThis product is easily crushed and added to our cats food. We used to buy a similar product from another manufacturer for about 3 times the cost- the only difference was it was flavored. There's no need to pay for that extra flavoring; hidden in their food the cats just eat this up. -

This is a great medication!
From UndisclosedComments about DL-MethionineMy 12 year old cat has needed medication for crystals forming in her urine causing pain and sometimes bleeding during urination since she was 18 months old. My cats only vet prescribed Methio-Form. When I relocated to another state, I continued with the Methioform. Then last month, numerous online pet pharmacies were out of stock for Methio-Form. I saw on one pharmacy site that there is an alternative medication in same dosage that unlike the Methio-Form does not require a prescription. I contacted my veterinarian. She did research and let me know that DL-Methionine is an excellent substitute for Methio-Form. I use one and half tablets dose twice a day in my cat's food. My cat is very fussy about eating food with medication mixed into it, but the DL-Methionine tablets are much smaller, crush into powder more easily and the powder is less dense so that my cat doesn't realize that it is mixed into her wet and dry food twice a day. My cat is doing very well with DL-Methionine and her symptons of her stress related illness have not surfaced at all. This alternative is proving to be a better medication and keeping my girl healthy. I have gone to auto shipping with this product so that I will not run out of it.

My dog is on Hills Urinary c/d dog food both kibbles and canned. This product has another urine acidifier called potassium citrate in it. Can I combine dl methionine to get her urine ph lowered? She weighs 14.5 lbs and I'd like to give her this once rather than twice daily if that works as well as twice? How much should I give her??

You state that dl-methionine doesn't require a script. On another pet med website, it says a script IS needed. Why the difference??
-
The brand of DL-methionine that we currently sell is VET Pharmaceuticals, which is specifically sold as a nutritional supplement in dogs and cats. Nutritional supplements do not require a prescription from a veterinarian. However, there are more concentrated forms of DL-methionine that require a prescription, such as Methio-Form, which we do not carry. The decision to require a prescription is dictated by each company that produces DL-methionine. This may be the reason why you see other pharmacies requiring a prescription from a veterinarian. Please consult with your veterinarian to determine if your pet requires prescription-only DL-methionine or DL-methionine supplement. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.

You stated in an answer regarding dosing that the dose for dogs is 1/2 tab per 10# once to twice per day for both the 200 mg and the 500 mg tabs. That doesn't make sense. The 200mg tab would be a dose of 100-200 mg daily while the dose for 500mg tab world be 250-500 mg daily. That is a large difference. Please clarify?

DL-Methionine 500mg tablets: Adult cats: 1 tablet per 10 pounds 1 or 2 times daily. Dogs: 1/2 tablet per 10 pounds 1 or 2 times daily. DL-Methionine 200mg tablets: Adult cats: 1 tablet per 10 pounds 3 or 4 times daily. Dogs: 1 tablet per 10 pounds 1 or 2 times daily. DL-Methionine should be given with food, and dosage should be adjusted to maintain urinary pH consistently below 6.6. DL-Methionine is not intended for use in kittens. Thank you!
