Don't use for ear infections. Can't get ointment in syringe
this stuff is impossible to work with. they give you this syringe for the dogs ears but you can't really get the ointment into the syringe without wasting tons of it. even the vet couldn't figure it out. she sent me home with a different syringe but that's not really working either. stuff is a waste of time.

Can this be used on a dogs neck that has been scratched (ex: by collar, toenail scratch )?
-
Derma-Vet is a prescription ointment that contains a steroid, antibiotic, and antifungal. It is labeled to treat skin and ear infections and types of dermatitis. Derma-Vet is not a first-aid ointment for wounds, abrasions, or scratches. Please ask your veterinarian to determine a product to suit your pet's needs.

My dog has an abscess on her paw, probably due to a foxtail or other foreign object. Our vet prescribed Derma-Vet ointment, but the instructions say not for use on abscesses. Why? Can it make the abscess worse??
-
Derma-Vet is a combination of an antibiotic, an antifungal, and an anti- inflammatory. Derma-Vet will not work alone to heal an abscess. However, your veterinarian may have prescribed this medication to prevent an infection of the abscess. If you have any questions about the rationale of the prescription, please contact your veterinarian.

Please. Email the application instructions?
-
Derma-Vet Ointment contains the active ingredients nystatin (anti-fungal), neomycin (antibiotic), thiostrepton (antibiotic) and triamcinolone (anti-inflammatory and anti-itch). Frequency and application instructions are dependent on the severity of the condition being treated. For mild inflammations, application may range from once daily to once a week; for severe conditions this ointment may be applied as often as two to three times daily. Because of the variance in condition severity and location, you should contact your veterinarian for more specific administration and dosage instructions.

If this ointment safe for use near a puppy's eye??
-
Derma-Vet ointment contains 4 active ingredients: Nystatin, Neomycin Sulfate, Thiostrepton, and Triamcinolone acetonide in a gel base consisting of polyethylene glycol and mineral oil. It is used to treat inflammation as well as bacterial and fungal infections. Only apply ointment to the skin avoiding eye contact with the gel. I see most people are using this product for rashes and hot spots. Can this be used for wound care??
-
This ointment combines: Nystatin, an antifungal; Neomycin Sulfate, an antibiotic; Thiostrepton, an antibacterial; and Triamcinolone Acetonide to reduce itching. It is commonly used in dogs and cats to treat ear disorders and certain skin conditions. The combination of active ingredients in Derma-Vet ointment would be ideal for gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and complex infections that are itchy, dry, and inflamed. Animals with a deep skin infection or an abscess should not use this medication. Please contact your veterinarian for further assessment before giving Derma-Vet Ointment to your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect

-
can this be used for the eyes??
-
Derma-vet is indicated for use with ear conditions, anal gland infections and other skin conditions and is not indicated with use in the eyes. The eyes are sensitive to a variety of ingredients and products not designed for ophthalmic use may not meet a comfort level suitable for use in the eyes and cause undesirable irritation. There are antibiotic treatments available specifically used for the eyes and a discussion with your veterinarian will be beneficial in choosing an appropriate product for your pet.
