Don't use for ear infections. Can't get ointment in syringe
this stuff is impossible to work with. they give you this syringe for the dogs ears but you can't really get the ointment into the syringe without wasting tons of it. even the vet couldn't figure it out. she sent me home with a different syringe but that's not really working either. stuff is a waste of time.

From Chicago, IL, USAComments about Derma-Vet OintmentDerma vet ointment work extremely well on our year old Labrador Retriever, he constantly would scratch and rub his ears, after visiting his veterinarian Derma vet was prescribed and used every other day after ear cleaning, in a week our dog improved and now he's completely cured. -

Derma Vet ointment is great
From Cape Cod, MA, USAComments about Derma-Vet OintmentThis is the second tube we are on now, and it knocks the hot spots down very quickly. Our dog swims in the ocean a lot, and when we rinse her, its hard to get her completely dry. So this is a difficult time for hot spots, as the weather is very humid too. So every time you see the tiniest hint of her scratching, we apply it. VetRXDirect is a nice company to do business with and they are very prompt with shipping. -
Fast service
From Arizona, USAComments about Derma-Vet OintmentWe bought this for our Mastiff that has occasional ear infections. The product works great as long as you clean the ears out really well and dry them before the product is put in. The prescription we had was expired, but through our Vet's office, they were able to renew it. This was a great relief to us and we plan on using them for any other products needed. -
Great product.

Not what ee expected
From Westfield, MA, USAComments about Derma-Vet OintmentWe had no choice to purchase this product because Animax was out of stock. It's nothing like Animax. As soon as we can come across it from someone, we will stop this one asap. This one is gooey and cakes up. I need to use it on my dogs penis, and have to spend more time cleaning up then ever had to before. Do not waste your money. -

While treating a dogs ears with derma-vet , can they go swimming every day ? Also, should you clean out the ears before reapplying the derma vet ... especially if there's a lot of brown gunk coming out ??
-
The manufacturer recommends cleaning the affected area and removing any encrusted discharge as well as removing any impacted ear wax or foreign bodies within the ear before applying the ointment. As for swimming after application, the manufacturer recommends against swimming for the duration of treatment to avoid washing away the medication and worsening the infection.

I usually purchase Mometamax to rid my dog from an ear fungus. The tip allows the medication to enter "inside" the ear. I ordered Dermavet for the same purpose but there is no tip suggesting it's not for "inside" the ear canal but the outer ear surface. Please explain how this salve should be applied for ear use. If it's the wrong med for ear infection what is the correct product that would be comparible to Mometamax?

My 6 year old long haired dachshund was prescribed this after he was chewing his front feet frantically and obsessively. We used it as prescribed and covered his feet with infant socks so that he would not lick it off. He tolerated this well but now the paw pads have started loosening and coming off. Almost all of the old dirty looking law pads have come off. It doesn't seem to hurt him but now his paw pads are pink like when he was a baby. We have been using it for 3 days straight twice a day. Should we continue using this? Will it make his paws hurt if we keep using it per the vet instructions for the next week? Please help!?

The manufacturer’s package insert does not list this as a possible side effect. They do say dose adjustments may be made based on the dog’s clinical response. Please consult your veterinarian about further continuing this product.
