Adverse effects include the following:
-
bone marrow suppression
-
nausea
-
vomiting
-
diarrhea
-
hair loss in round patches
-
anorexia
Because of the potential risk of serious side effects, adequate and regular monitoring are very important. This list does not include all known side effects. Talk with your pet's veterinarian regarding potential adverse effects specific to your pet.
If you are giving cyclophosphamide to your dog, frequent walks after giving the doses may lessen the risk of bladder toxicity.
Because of the toxic nature of cyclophosphamide, care should be taken when handling the medication. Although no precautions are needed when handling intact tablets, exposure to crushed or broken tablets and liquid preparations should be used with caution. If contact occurs, wash the area well with soap and water.
Do NOT split cyclophosphamide tablets.
It is important to give your pet this medication exactly as prescribed and to not discontinue the drug without consulting with your pet's veterinarian. If you miss giving your pet the dose, give it to him as soon as you remember. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue on your normal schedule. If you are unsure about when to give a missed dose, contact your pet's veterinarian.
