My cavapoo has a very sensitive stomach, will this oral cleanse cause more issues with her stomach? Do you always need to use on a pup with a full stomach??
-
Chlorhexidine, the active ingredient in Clenz-a-dent Chlorhexidine Rinse, is an oral, antimicrobial rinse and if used as directed per manufacturer should have little to no effect on the stomach. The product has an orange flavoring which may make it more palatable for your dog. It may help to give it to your dog after a meal if your dog is prone to having an upset stomach, but ultimately you should consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication for your dog.

I recently got a Shih Tzu and he is a poop eater. (As much as I love him). Will this kill bacteria in the mouth from poop and keep them from spreading it??
-
Clenz-a-Dent rinse is indicated as an oral rinse for plaque reduction in dogs or cats. It contains chlorhexidine to help control and deter the growth of the bacteria in the mouth that contributes to gum disease and freshens breath. Currently, there is no information about this product killing fecal bacteria or preventing the spread of bacteria outside of the mouth.

What is the "flavor" of this product. I have a similar product that has a spearmint flavor that my dog hates. He smells it from 10 feet away. I'm looking for a flavor that may be more palatable for him.?
-
According to the manufacturer, Clenz-A-Dent is an orange flavored, palatable formula.

It's not very palatable to a cat. My cat had no problem with unflavored chlorhexidine, which I can't find anywhere anymore. I got this and my car was foaming at the mouth immediately, poor guy. He lets me give him medicine no problem trust me giving him anything I've never seen him from at the mouth and he's 13. This tells me the flavor is horrendous. I could smell it, it's smells like orange Tylenol from when I was a kid. Why do they have to put a flavor in it at all? Dogs and cats will both allow you to put it in just the same if it has a flavor it's not going to allow you to put it in easier. Dogs will eat anything so it probably doesn't matter to them. I just think they need to remove the flavor completely.

Can you use the clenzadent mouth rinse with chlorhexidine in the dogs water bowl? Like my vet said 1 capful. I am still not sure about this. What do you think think? Sincerely, Sandradee?

Chlorhexidine mouth rinse, brand name Clenz-a-dent Chlorhexidine Rinse, is to be used as a topical rinse for the gums and oral cavity. Ingestion of chlorhexidine in large amounts may cause gastrointestinal upset. Clenz-a-dent also comes as a 2-in-1 mouth rinse/water additive, brand name Clenz-a-dent Mouth Rinse / Water Additive , and is supplied with a measuring cup and spraying nozzle for dosing. This product contains RF2 (a unique active ingredient from vegetal origin) and does not contain chlorhexidine. Per the manufacturer, this product can specifically be added to water or used directly on a dog’s gum line for oral hygiene. It too may cause gastrointestinal upset in large quantities, but ingestion with water helps. It is important to follow-up with your pet’s veterinarian with any additional questions or concerns you may have. He or she will be able to assist you in making the best choice of therapy for you dog. Thank you, VetRxDirect
